I have never played hockey myself, and can barely stand on skates, so take my opinion for waht it's worth (probably not much ;)).

After seeing Draisaitl play against France (twice), Finland (twice), Russia (once) and Switzerland (once), I think his skating is adequate for this level of competition. He is not explosive but his speed is fine and he gets to where he needs to be. His ability to read the game, not only offensively but also defensively helps him with that.
I thought even over this couple of weeks his skating improved. There were a few instances were he appeared to be floating but oddly he usually ended up in exactly the right position to use his stick to break up a play.

His ability to protect the puck is, not surprisingly, not as great as it has been in junior. Against France he did it very well and with a lot of success, however as the opponents became stronger and more physical you would see him cough up the puck sometimes, but for a kid playing against men for the first time, he did good in that respect. He will have to work on his strength and balance some more, but I doubt it will take him long to adjust to more physical opponents.
