Did they really cut Plachta?

That's another surprise. As far as shooters/goalscorers go, I would take Peterka and Pföderl over Plachta (even though he had a good season), but I am not sure I would have kept Fischbuch or Samanski over him. Though, I like having Samanski on the team, and Fischbuch has more to offer than just being a trigger man. Still having a specialist of Plachta's calibre would seem like a good idea.

I haven't heard anything, but he could also be hurt.

A few more random thoughts about the roster:
  • I would have picked Bugl over Ancicka as third string goalie
  • A little surprised Zimmermann is still on the roster, but he has performed well for the national team in the past.
  • Pleasantly surprised that Sennhenn still here. Everytime I watched him this season he played very well. His development the last few seasons has been amazing.
  • A little sad that Krauß was cut, but it makes sense. He is another young player whose development has been nothing short of amazing.
  • Glad that Schütz is still on the team. He had an outstanding season (especially early on) and I hope he can take the next step.
  • Considering how many talented young players weren't even able to sniff on a roster spot this time, things are looking promising for the future (more so among forwards than defensemen). I was very worried a few years ago, about what we would do once the generation of Noebels, Plachta, Ehliz etc. retires. Now not so much.

As far as I know, Lukas Reichel has already canceled the tournament.
But only reason was that he should play AHL Play-Off´s.
But season is over for Rockford. Germany have not yet presented their final squad either. I think there´s a chance to see Luki at these WC.

No surprises on the backend.
But I can‘t understand cutting Schütz - the line with Stachowiak and Tuomie played fantastic last year and he had an unbelievable season this year.

But looking back to last year, you have to believe in the decisions Kreis makes

Cutting the best goalscorer of the DEL regular season (not just among German players but overall), sure seems strange, but I think Kreis really goes for a balanced roster with known quantities. So he is not necessarily picking the strongest players, but what he expects to be the strongest team. And like you said, it worked out last year, so we may as well trust in him.

You have to believe that Schütz will be the first one up if anybody needs to be replaced between now and the start of the tournament.

As for Reichel, I don't think he will join the team.

While I am liking the roster despite it missing guys like Noebels, Plachta, Gawanke or Schütz (either by choice or maybe due to injury) and of course Stützle and Seider, I don't think they will contend for a medal this time. Seider alone would change that, but unfortunately that is not happening.

So we registered Ancicka as 3rd goalie yesterday and Ugbekile on D and Kastner as a forward today.
Am I correct in assuming this means Reichel won't be joining the team, or do we still have a way of adding him?

Don't think so. Draisaitl is 1-1, he would be out at earliest for the Quarters.

And Reichel is confirmed, so I guess this spot is for him.

No Sturm, no Szuber and no Wagner tonight. Not ideal, but let's see what Ugbekile and Kastner can bring to the table.
