Honest question:

Why was that a beauty?

It was a deflection on net that Binnington misplayed and put the rebound right on the tape of Frederic's stick.

If a Bruins goalie had done that we'd be all over him. It was more luck than anything.

I honestly thought he was looking to tip that puck to Freddy, looked like he was looking at him as he was doing it but I could be wrong. Obviously did get lucky that it bounced off Binnington to him in the end.

Yeah, hard to tell if Merk was just trying to tip it, or purposefully tip it to Frederic. Either way, he made a good play to get open in front of the net and make an effective tip that resulted in a goal, whether it ended up going straight in or off a defender's skate or a teammate's blade. Maybe not a beauty of a play, but I wish there were more players on this team making things happen like this.

It looked like a tip on net going five hole. Bennington got it with the paddle and the puck went to Frederic on the rebound. But yes, the team needs to put more shots on net ... not wide, not over, but on the net. Force the goalie to make a save and hope a Bruin can hop on the rebound.
