I wonder what our plan with Catton is for next season. I genuinely don't think he has anything left to learn in juniors. However, he will only be 19, so he is not eligible for the AHL either.

I’d like to see Catton with the Kraken next year, in a sheltered role. Play him with good players, give him offensive zone starts, and live with the inevitable mistakes, because once he figures it out he’s going to be a force.
Too many teams stick young players who are not eligible for the AHL in fourth line checking roles that are 180 degrees from why they were drafted. That’s not development.

Jani Nyman has been pretty good after his slow start to the season with 2 points in 10 games. He has had 22 points in his last 26 and is up to 24 points in 36 games. He is 2nd in points for the team behind Ben Meyers.

He's a big kid too, I'd like to see him called up towards the end of the season and see what his game looks like.

Semyon Vyazovoy is having a hell of a season in the KHL. 0.933 SV% over 20 games in the KHL. Wonder if we sign him to an ELC and try to bring him over for next season. Start him and Kokko as the AHL tandem and see if either of them are ready to backup Daccord the season after next.

I'm used to Russian goalies taking their time before coming over. Do we know when his current KHL contract is up?

Which of the D men are likely to make the jump to the AHL from juniors next season?

Price
Dragicevic
Hammell
Jugnauth

I doubt all 4 play in the AHL next season. I would think Price, Jugnauth and Dragicevic. In that order.

I’d certainly agree about Price. I think he’s there. I like Jugnauth and think he gets the nod. I haven’t seen much of Dragicevic since pre-season where he might have been the least impressive player on the ice in-game and was very exposed. I hope he’s been able to learn from the issues he had exposed at that point.

I was curious about Dragicevic and checked him out on the WHL page a few days ago. Frankly, I was shocked at how poor his skating stride was. My expectations cratered after that and seeing your comment here now cemented my impression that he is an extreme longshot at best. But I guess that was known at the time of the draft and the Kraken rolled the dice based on analytics. I saw somewhere he had great offensive numbers but dreadful defensive numbers going into the draft.
