OT: General OT MEGATHREAD (No Politics) Pt. 3 - Read OP before posting

The GF and I are heading to Greece in August. Athens for a day and a half to start, then going to post up on Santorini for six days, then have 4 more days to sort out. Any suggestions?
I didn't go to Santorini, just Crete and Rhodes on a cruise. Only advice I can give is to explore and try the local food.

Will do. Going to end up on Milos, renting a car on Santorini and Milos to explore all the off the beaten path beaches. Renting a boat to see the places that the roads won't get us to.

I'll eat all the local food, except Octopus. I can't do it, after watching The Boys when Homelander made The Deep eat an Octopus and narrating his plea... "He has a family"!

Suit yourself but you are missing out on a truly amazing experience. Pulling into a place with a bunch of freshly caught octopus hanging on a drying line, having a guy grab one and throw it on the grill, then slice it up and put a little fresh olive oil and a little salt on it and serve it with a mythos beer is pretty special.

Thank baby jesus that hfboard dark theme is back.
Gotta be honest, I don't get why people love the dark theme so much. I think the site uses too many colors that simply don't show up well at all against the dark background, makes it really hard to read the specific strings. I know the white can cause eyestrain, but at least I can see all the text clearly.

All the seafood is great, so it’s not like he won’t have other fantastic options. I like calamari, but not Octopus myself.

I'm not sure you caught all the sarcasm in my post, but I'll take your suggestion if I can find a stupid, only-child octopus.

A well grilled octopus tentacle is one of my favorites.

There's a place just north of Van Ness on Connecticut called I'm Eddie Cano that does it right.

I've watched a bunch of stuff that has me convinced that the octopus is actually an alien species. And if they are an alien species and were able to get here, then they're smarter than us. And if they're smarter than us then they WILL have their revenge. They can twist their mustache and still have 7 legs free to do all kinds of evil shit to all you wacko tentacle-eating fathermuckers...

Bring aqua socks. The beaches on Santorini are all rocky, especially in the water. Make sure you confirm your car rental, because the guys at the airport will "lose" it and then be out of cars and have a cousin who also runs a rental business that's ~$20 a day more expensive. I will also say other than the beaches, there's not really much there, so if you're not traveling to other islands during your 6 days, and you're not a huge beach creature, you're going to be a bit bored.

That said, the restaurants are good, but in Fira/Thira they're basically priced like upscale US ones. Megalochori has some less expensive, more authentic places to eat in the side streets, and that was a lot of fun.

Yeah, we are a genius species, and we're definitely not from here.
