General Off Day Thread - Sid Voted Best Player League Wide

The latest NHLPA players' poll has been released. A couple of interesting surprises here:

They should use next year as a test run, let him do color commentary all 82 games. Cant possibly be worse than Bourque or Colby, right?

That "jailbreak goal" would be an awesome addition to the NHL. That and the 3-2-1 point system would both be really nice rule changes.

NHL would never go for the 3-2-1 because it artificially keeps teams in the playoff hunt and keeps attendance up.

You gonna go see a team(s) in person when they've been eliminated since Feb 1st?

I don't know that the jailbreak goal rule would really make a big difference but it'd be cool to see the sport continue to evolve and adapt. Definitely agree the 3-2-1 points system is preferable, though I doubt it ever happens.

I'm also so f***ing sick and tired of shootouts that I'd go 10 minutes of 3-on-3 with maybe a full 2 min commercial break at 5 minutes or something because guys would bitch about being winded. Shootouts are traaaaaaash, dude. I turn the game off if it goes to shootout 100% of the time, regardless of who is playing.

My proposal to the 3 on 3 OT: make it a penalty if the team with the puck intentionally brings the puck over to their side of the red line once they have initially crossed it.

So sick of teams completely resetting and dragging this out. OT should be quick and fun action. NHL coaches have a real knack for ruining excitement.

3v3 was cool for about half a season, until they coached around it

I say, do 5v5 for 5mins, but not sudden death.. Most goals scored in that 5mins wins.. Then again, team a gets one, and sits behind their net with it.. Ugh... 3-2-1 is REALLY the only way to go

Or even get rid of OT with 3win 1tie 0loss

There MUST be a real incentive to win. Getting 1 point for an OT loss and only 2 for a win isn't enough
