Because the Bruins have no need for speed, skill, or scoring touch. They need a 4th line, hard-working, 'safe' grinder. That much should be obvious if you've been watching the team lately.

Sure. But they don't play long enough or get significant minutes.

That he does. I’ve got nothing against Brown, just don’t like the call up when the Bruins have much bigger issues than whether a 4th liner works hard for the 8 minutes he plays.

Exactly. If effort was this teams issue, great bring up Brown, but unfortunately he does nothing to help the speed/skill issues on this roster

We went and spent our money in free agency to get the best replacements we could.

But now we are 3rd from the bottom in the conference with a -24 goal differential.

Can anyone explain what went wrong and where the Bruins need to go from here to fix it?

Get rid of Sweeny. The silk lining in this issue is if the Bruins continue to falter they have a chance at a better pick in the next draft. Sweeny screwed the pooch the last draft big time and should have been canned then for that reason. 7 round draft and the Bs never picked until the 4th rnd. Missed the 5th I believe and got the 6th and 7th. All the highly skilled draft picks were already gone by the time the Bruins picked. Finding a needle in a haystack is not a great strategy. Sweeny can't find the haystack never mind the needle.

Something that sort of caught my ears this week on The Sheet with Jeff Marek.

He and Wyshinski were discussing the Caps and the Hershey Bears. How they have had players come up and have been able to stick (and more on the way).

The big thing they attributed this success to was the deep playoff runs (and more recently, Calder Cups) for the Hershey Bears. The experience of winning while there and how it is a big impact on their development.

It really just sunk in a bit as I thought about the lack of developmental success (or transition) Sweeney has had in his farm. Obviously, you can question the talent they have drafted or brought in, or the coaches or whatever. But looking back, it's what? 1 conference final appearance in the last 10 seasons (didnt include the covid cancelled seasons) and 3 second round exits?

Just something I figured Id throw this out there to discuss. Want to also flag that I do not watch the P Bruins at all so this is a purely speculative take on my part.

Washington's draft capital including draft position over the last 5 years certainly helps
Hershey is basically the AHL Flagship, they usually get their man, wether it's a Coach or AHL Veteran ,it's a well run organization
