Providence Bruins General Discussion thread ‘24-‘25 II

TY SE. that’s really too bad. Merk was a big part of the PBs success this season. What’s your take on Kuntar? Maybe was always meh prospect?
He's average but is one of the very few that likes to mix it up, I think he's getting a raw deal from the org, but there's more to the story, my complaint with him , needs to cut down on the dumb penalties and just play hard nosed hockey

I do think he is getting a raw deal, but his potential seems to be 4th line energy player at most

I've seen enough of Patrick Brown at both levels of hockey to say he sucks as a hockey player. Sorry. He just is what he is. He's a AHL guy. Vet guy. Yes, hes got the C. And hes a nice guy. Good down on Prov. But he's just there, for me personally. I just didn't appreciate when he got called up first over other rooks. Which happened this year. Future looks bright with some of the kids though. So I'm excited. No disrespect to Brown. I just don't enjoy watching him.

Also, never said Viel is a goon. But he's a 4th line guy. But that's his purpose. I love 4th line guys who can chip in. He works hard. Takes no shit. I actually want him up with the big club next year if there's an opportunity. I like his game. And I enjoyed watching him when he got called up to the big club. I actually think he has a future with the Bruins next year. Especially with the roster influx.

As long as the kids aren't riding the pine in favor of him, yeah fine let him be. But it does still make me chuckle seeing Patrick Brown practicing on line 2. That's all.
It wasn't line 2 though, they were listed in no order as someone already pointed out to you. Seems like you're making a big deal out of nothing. They're obviously not sitting Brown in the playoffs and with Merk injured who would they bring in to replace him. The likes of Harrison, Kuntar, Schmaltz, Nelson etc are big downgrades from Brown.

I do agree it was silly to give Brown 15 games in the NHL this season when he was doing jack$hit in those games (1 assist) and there were younger players who could've benefited from the NHL experience. Though having him in the lineup did help with the tank (4-D chess?). But you seem to be conflating NHL Brown with AHL Brown. They are two completely different players IMO with significantly different production/contribution/value to their teams. AHL Brown does it all...scores, generates offense, plays solid defense, PKs, net front on PP, wins board battles, you name it. AHL Brown is a key piece in Providence who this team will need if they plan on a deep Calder Cup run (which they have the roster for this year).

Yeah hence why I said seeing him projected as line 2 made me chuckle. I don't like him as a player, I'm allowed to feel that way. I'd rather see those guys than him honestly. Even if they've struggled to get into the lineup. If Merk wasn't injured, they'd probably still play Brown over him. This isn't the first or last time the organization has done this with players in Prov. They often give the "vet" more minutes or the first call up. That's always been my gripe with them. It's not personal.

Sad part is we weren't talking in those 15 games where that guy did absolutely nothing. Could of gone to Lysell. Which I think would of been a better choice and opportunity.

Hopefully Brown helps Prov go on a run. A true run because it's been years. But that's just it

Did anyone put minten ahead of poitras on the teams prospect rankings? I don’t see it.

1.poitras
2.locmelis
3. Lysell
4.brunet
5. Minten

Just providence rankings. I haven’t watched the other prospects enough to comment.
