Providence Bruins General Discussion thread ‘24-‘25 II

Are you certain, it was not important for the Providence staff to have him in order to work with him on Bruins' playstyle, or the specific program that needs to be on in order to improve his shortcomings.

I find it hard to believe that this is as simple as we are making it out to be. I believe that even if I missed the mark on the reasons, that there were reasons they kept him in Providence. It is folly for us to sit here behind the keyboard and act like there is not deeper thought put into each and everyone of these multi-million dollar investments an NHL organization makes.

Isn't this the whole point of this website? Lmao

The guy has been sitting for over a month not playing. Wasting away development. They have Maine for a reason. He should of been there playing.

you mean round I assume

yea I like the pick

I just think we have too many guys who lean towards middle six center and need to knock the next one up to first line potential

Poitra, Locmelis and Letourneau all seem like their ceiling is 2nd line...which would be great if all three hit that, but we still need a 80+ point guy to play with pasta and give this team a change to win a cup while Pasta still has all his dirty blonde hair
I think you are being very optimistic with the ceiling for those three being second line players.
Potsy has a long way to go even to make this team next year.
He has 6 goals in 66 NHL games.
He is scoring at a better rate in the AHL, but that is to be expected.
Dean is at least 4 years away, unless his play improves significantly in the next 1-2 years.
He needs to be scoring at least a .5 PPG next year.
Locmelis offensive skill set looks more like a playmaker with 15 goals in 70 games.
If you look at our talent pool that are not playing in the NHL, we have very few players that are scoring at more than a .5 goal per game. It's a reflection on very poor scouting and drafting by Sweeney.
The new kid we traded for Zellers, is the exception, he is on fire in the USHL.
Realistically IMO I see Potsy / Dean and Loc as being players that have a 40-50 points per year ceiling, playing on the third line, which is not a bad problem to have.
Depending on our depth, they may have to play on the second line.
One player you did not mention was Minten.
I think he has the best chance of getting to the second line some day vs the other three.

Yea forgot about Minten

Don’t mistake my point, the absolute best case for any of the three is second line, so the point is we need to go for guys that can project as true first line centers and not make a safe pick with that high pick we have this year

They don’t need to gamble with this pick. Quite the opposite. They need players period.

I think the potential ceiling for letourneau is literally that of a 80/90 pt 1C, but its a big wildcard long term kind of thing. more evident by this year.
You believe that a guy that can’t manage a singular goal in his rookie college season will become an 80-90pt NHL Center? What are your thoughts on Bigfoot being an alien species that beams itself to Earth on predatory vacations to terrorize humanity?

We didn’t somehow draft a 15 year old, right? The guy was the same age as other guys that get drafted out of Juniors and College. Maybe he was in a prep-school when we took him, and maybe college is a big jump, but his contemporaries somehow find success there. He didn’t….at all.

I want him to succeed too, just begging a little bit of realism. Happy to eat crow if this kid manages even 2nd line duty one day.

I think he can become a very productive player. Soft hands. Good shot. Excellent skater. I don’t see why with some experience and Ice time he won’t be able to produce. It was a massive leap from prep school in Ontario to grown men in college. It’s like going from house league to the CHL.
