responding this here...because this **** is too ridiculous for no one not to see

the rangers are better "because they're from NY" that's the best answer i've heard in awhile. LOL

Oh and "Blue is a better color"

edit link is bad

What a joke this band. I went from never hearing about them and liking them due to the NJ connection to hating them.

What happened to the Stadium Series thread?

these were comments from fans, not that crappy band. The comments were just ridiculous and had to be posted here

so we just sit back and do nothing ? no way that happens if we are only 2 points out at the deadline.

Absolutely not. We make a trade and we go all in! Push for the playoffs, never give up being 2 points out.

If we're just 2 points out or within striking distance I think Lou targets a UFA forward. Cheapest guys really. Here's a list of rentals, teams who are not in or tied for a playoff spot at the moment:

Thomas Vanek (LW)
Radim Vrbata (RW)
David Legwand (C)
Grabovski (C)
O. Jokinen (C)
Moulson (LW)
Ales Hemsky (RW)
Brad Boyes (RW)
Mike Cammaleri (LW)
Devin Setoguchi (RW)
Milan Michalek (LW)
Marcel Goc (C)
Marian Gaborik (RW)

If not Vanek I'm ok with Hemsky, Camm, Seto or even Vrbata.

that was just some dumb little kid,
the girl Devil fan had it right saying they're cocky and have nothing to bragg about since '94
I didnt like the group from England saying "We're massive bloody rangers fans" :shakehead:rant::laugh:

At 13 years old, I had better comebacks than that. Yes, he's a kid but that response was just embarrassing. The reporter should have ask after he said "no one likes the Devils"

"What about the 25,000 fans in attendance today?"

Wish we won just so we could have rubbed it in their arrogant faces, again. I'll take 2012 & 3 cups since 94 any day though.

Do you think a team desperate for a D would give up a low first in a bad draft for Marek?

Paul Gaustad was dealt on deadline day for a first round pick, so clearly anything is possible. All it takes is one dumb GM. But I think with his pending free agency, his age and really the fact that he's a one dimensional (good dimension but still one dimensional) defensemen, leads me to believe that the max return we could get would be a middling prospect and 2nd round pick. If this team was out of it, and needed depth in the system I'd totally be down. I'm not ready to sell when we don't have our own first for tanking purposes, we're two points out of a playoff spot, and our farm system isn't among the bottom of the NHL anymore. Now if the bottom should fall out between now and the deadline, obviously my tune would change.

I would say this is bad for us because we are buyers not sellers come March if things don't change.

The only one I'd want is Vrbata (Vanek will be too expensive) and I don't think PHX is that far out of contention...plus they might want to re-sign him.

I'm hoping the Devils target him in FA though...Vrbata and Stastny.

If the Devils win FA on these guys, i'll be astonished.

If Lou pulls Vanek out of his hat I sincerely believe we make the playoffs and make a damn good run.

Vanek - Zajac - Jagr
Clowe - Henrique - Ryder
Elias - Loktionov - Brunner

And you know what, Vanek on the cheap since it would be a 20 game rental or so would be a Lou move.

Devils send Josefson, Kujawinski, 2015 conditional 1st (only becomes a first if Vanek resigns with NJ. If Vanek re-signs elsewhere it becomes a 2nd. If he re-signs with the Islanders it becomes a fourth).

It's not out of the realm of possibility that Lou does that and we become a force in the playoffs. We're a Vanek away from having a shot at the ECF. That's how bad the East is. Heck even without him you can sneak in and steal a round or two.

Can we afford to keep giving away first rounders, especially in a deep draft next year . If we did that it would be 3 consecutive years without a first. If we keep giving up high draft picks, it will take this organization a decade to recover.

We're a bubble team at best, old, slow and low on skill. Free agency doesn't work in hockey or most sports.

Detroit did that for a few years. It's always best to get that sure thing back in a trade (Kovy, Vanek). If McDavid becomes Vanek then boy the team who gets him will be counting their lucky starts.

I don't give firsts away like candy, don't get me wrong, but for an NHL all-star? I sure as hell do. That's a good use of that asset.

with our luck at first round picks, I'd take a proven player too

Hey how tough are hockey players compared to baseball players,
from Guliti's Fire n Ice:

Zubrus had the nose reset in the Yankees’ training room, returned to play the remainder of the game and will be in the Devils’ lineup tonight in St. Louis for the start of the team’s three-game road trip. “In the training room the Yankee trainer was watching them reset his nose and all the blood and couldn’t believe that he was going back out to play,” DeBoer said. “Not that baseball players aren’t tough, but I don’t think they see a lot of that.” - See more at: http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/fireice#sthash.yqCwDlVl.dpuf

Detroit had a great core, just like Yankees did at one time, but if you don' t have that core, 9 out of 10 times it doesn't work. I'm also not convinced Vanek if worth signing long term for big money and years.

Glad to see Jagr stick up for Josefson.

The biggest problem with him and Merrill is confidence, not ability. Otherwise, from a hockey sense, pure Devil-standpoint, they are still as promising as anyone.

I thought Gaborik is out for the year, but if he comes back soon I hope we trade for him. It doesn't make much sense why the Blue Jackets woudl trade him to a team in teh same division.

Offseason sign: Gaborik, Grabovski
Resign - Jagr, Fayne
Buyout - Volchenkov

Zubrus- Zajac - Jagr
Elias - Grabovski - Gaborik
Clowe - Henrique - Ryder
Josefson - Loki - Brunner

Greene - Fayne
Gelinas - Larsson
Salvador - Merrill
Harrold

I think the above team would be a serious contender.

I'd buyout Salvador instead. He's just plain old finished.

A bit of revisionist history on your part there.

Bergfors was a 22-year old former first round pick who was scoring at 0.5 PPG pace in his first season. That type of commodity is pretty valuable. The Devils don't have anyone right now who fills that role, but Boucher would probably be the closest.

You also claim Cormier was all hype, but regardless, he was a pretty highly touted prospect at the time. Him and Matteau would probably be considered as equals.

Oduya was pretty bad before being traded, however for three years he had been a dependable second pairing guy at both ends of the ice. I imagine someone like Fayne is comparable.

So we're talking Boucher, Matteau, Fayne and a 1st. That's pretty equal to what we gave up for Kovy, and that kind of trade would bankrupt our system.

I don't think Boucher = Bergfors. Bergfors was in top 5 rookie scoring at the time and tracking towards a 20 goal rookie season from the 3rd line. He was extremely valuable, I would argue that Gelinas is more closer to the value of Bergfors even though he is a dman.

Oduya is probably more similar to Salvador than Fayne mainly because I don't think non-playoff team like Atlanta at the time would want an impending UFA in return. At least with Sal, you can get more than 1/2 a season out of him.

I agree Matteau & Cormier are very equal given they are similar type of players.

I agree on trading first round picks. I look at Tedenby, Josefson, and Schneider. Of the three, trading for Schneider was the best use of the pick.

Likewise, if dealing our 2015 1st is a necessity to bring in someone like Evander Kane, I'd make the deal.
