edit* apparently that's a bit too edgy to get a preview(I think bc he's smokin drugs) but it's titled "Writing your congressman on Salvia". There's a series of them, pretty entertaining if you haven't seen it.

How did i type Salvia and not saliva?!? Must have been lack of caffeine. But i learned at least one new thing today -- i honestly had never heard of salvia before that video. Very educational. You know you are getting old when there is a drug, especially one you can smoke in a bong, that you've never heard of before. Very definition of a parent lol.

Depending on who you believe, the T-giving surge hit the numbers a few days ago OR is going to hit today , tomorrow, or Thursday

This graph is for tests collected up to 12/3, which means a 5+ day lag for results, but the spike is clear as day.
I would say that the Thanksgiving spike is here 12/3 is 7 days from a thanksgiving exposure. (assuming a 5-6 day average for symptoms to appear)

California’s 3-Week Covid-19 Shutdown Could Turn Into “6 or 9 Weeks If Transmission Rates Stay As High As They Are,” Warns Health Official

While the 24,375 new Covid-19 cases reported in California on Tuesday were lower than the 30,000-plus all-time high seen over the weekend, California Director of Health and Human Services Dr. Mark Ghaly stressed that the state has still “seen more than a doubling of our average case number.”

“Just about 15 days ago, we were reporting a 7-day average of 11,000 cases,” he said, before observing that Tuesday numbers tend to be lower because of fewer tests over the weekend. “I expect tomorrow’s numbers to be significantly higher,” predicted Ghaly.

Ghaly then added that the state has experienced a 50% overall increase in test positivity rate in the past two weeks. Then, for the first time, he hinted that there might be an extension of Governor Gavin Newsom’s Regional Stay-at-Home Order if positivity rates do not come down.

When someone goes to get their test, why aren't the testing facilities handing out a quarantine therapeutic package? If someone is testing aren't they suspicious of having been exposed or are preparing to meet with people they don't want to expose? A therapeutic package - 14 day supply of daily multivitamin, vitamins c/d and zinc supplements and maybe other not to be named supplements - much cheaper than the test itself could be handed out, instead of the current advice to go home and wait for your test results, and if you develop fever take tylenol and then seek further medical attention if you develop more serious symptoms.... seriously the state public health website has zero advice on improving the public's immune health. Newsome should have spent a few hundred million on vitamin D distribution instead of billboard ads. Even the placebo effect would be more beneficial than this cower and fear advice we're getting.

It's not a bad thought but a lot of these are available OTC and are very affordable. But also you're introducing liability onto Doctors who are not present at the site. There has to be some level of responsibility on the public's part in taking care of themselves. There are scenarios where meds like Tylenol and Ibuprofen would be contraindicated and to have someone on site at a pop up tent would require and MD to be present to review each case with a few RNs to do intake. And those MDs would need to paid and they won't be paid by the people getting tested because no exchange of insurance is taking place since testing is largely free. It would also clog up the system and prevent testing from taking place. Moreover, we have a doctor and nurse shortage and they need to be in the hospital, not on site when someone is getting swabbed. They aren't needed there.

I agree that more info could be out helpful out there, but it has also been out there at already established websites like choosemyplate.gov for food for years and CDC.gov for management of COVID symptoms.

i think from being in the field though, you know exactly what that is, some form of survivor's guilt and that's a "normal" reaction to trauma (isn't ptsd wonderful)

realistically, appropriately feeding your body to continue working on other people and potentially help them is a better choice, technically more "honorable" even if it feels selfish internally

personally its something i'm more prone to being able to internalize, the "hired gun" mindset but its not far off from what you're saying about it being their journey instead of yours. you're there because you have a set of skills that can help, sometimes your "part" of helping doesn't necessarily result in the problem being fixed. a drain cleaner can clear a pipe full of roots and they did their part to the best of his ability, even if the cracks in the pipes are still there. doesn't diminish his value.
Yup. Somedays are tougher than others. Get out in nature, exercise, fluids, eat well, I write a lot. I live out near the sticks so I can go hiking and barely see anyone. Doing what I can but I'm not unique to this. Appreciate the feedback brother.

Our shitheel government has only been able to manage one pathetic $1200 stimulus check in 9 months, you think they can find money for something like this? Think of the corporations!

We have had some discussion in this thread about the distrust of the media. Yesterday was the anniversary of John Lennon's passing. This is how Walter Cronkite reported it. You will notice no mention of Lennon's politics, no mention of Chapman's politics, no personal feelings from Cronkite whatsoever, just the news.

In fact, no mention of Chapman's name at all. Well done Walter.

As an aside Lennon has now been dead longer than he was alive.

Wait till you hear what happened to the federal funds

Those are the federal funds, are the not?

I will tell you that the SBA is forgiving these loans. Seeing turnaround times within five days of submission to the SBA.

A lot of companies received nice equity injections that we will all be paying for. Unfortunately, the rules of the program did not include needing to show hardship because nobody had the time to show hardship. Things had just shut down and then the program rolled out almost instantly. If you qualified for the loan, you'd be foolish not to take it in early April when the future was so murky. You'd also be foolish not to take it just from a business perspective.

On the banking side, banks are for-profit entities. Top clients, larger loan amounts and potential new top-end clients are going to take priority. If I'm the account manager for the Lakers and they ask for a PPP loan, you bet your ass I'm making sure they get one ASAP because every account manager at every other bank will jump in and do it for them if I won't. If you ask for-profit entities to basically run your entire emergency stimulus loan program and stop their normal business practices to do so for a few months, you can't expect these entities to do it all so they can rush to make sure a taco truck with three employees gets a $12,000 loan. Regardless, remember that there was a surplus of PPP funds that wound up not getting used. The first tranche was eaten up quickly but the second one was never fully utilized. The program should have been funded higher than it was at the start since everyone knew those funds would be exhausted quickly.

The next round of PPP will be more targeted instead of the free-for-all we saw earlier this year. Prove that your Q2 gross revenues were 50% below that of Q2 2019. Qualifiers like that will help get more money in to those companies most impacted by COVID. The problem is that these jackasses in DC jerked around until after the election and it is going to be too late for a lot of companies that need a 2nd bite of the PPP apple.

I was more thinking in terms of how the "how are we going to pay for THAT" crowd in similar manner took funds disproportionately, they mostly went to bigger businesses/insiders who knew what was coming, to say nothing of the bailouts which saw companies shorting their own stocks before laying off their employees. The trickle down that never happens while the commoners suffer. Was really just furthering the ongoing point that no one is looking out for us on any level, it's not monopolized by one party or entity (federal vs. state.)

I agree with you on equity injections and if it's there, may as well get your slice, it's good business--but as always, it more often than not went to the 'wants' rather than the 'needs.'
