what I don't understand is why those lazy Russians score 3 goals against the US when they don't care, but were never able to score that many in previous years when they gave 100%
Russian soul is a mystery to all...

Only Chiburashka knows that :D

Emerick and Davidson still think Nabokov is in. Someone update these guys.

Sokolov was Nabokov the entire 3rd period against Latvia. Number, name on the jersey, pads, helmet all didn't matter. They even showed Nabokov on the bench and posted "Sokolov" under his face.

Russia has officially packed it in. What a lazy game we are playing, unbelievable! Shame on the US - second string goalie, opponents barely moving, your guys are playing hard, and still down 2-3.

Either way, its painful to watch... One of these 50 US shots on goal is going to fracture Datsyuk's foot, and the tournament will be over. Good job, guys.

Afinogenov screws up any line he is on. Bursts up ice, across the ice, gets the zone... stops once he gets to some defenders. Looks around in desperation, skates right up to some Russian defenceman and clumsily showes the puck into his feet.

Korolyuk is doing great today, so if Malkin. Ovechkin is leaving something more to be desired. Kovalchuk has been okay. Russia is having majour problems penetrating the American D anywhere than along the boards. We can't set up inside then zone and then score... we might as well just give away the puck if that happens and just wait for another rush.

Shame on you, Datsyuk have impressed me beyond belief both offensively, defensively, and in terms of little things like dekeing two guys before clearing the zone on the penalty kill.

That period of 5 minutes where they finally noticed they had the wrong guy in net was pure comedy.

Gotta feel for the guy in net. Had a great period, and Nabokov got all the credit for it.

I couldn't stop laughing as they kept trying to figure out what was going on. :biglaugh:

That's true. Russians are not playing in full strength. Too leisurely... I don't know how they scored 3 goals though. They were going full speed ahead against Sweden and Latvia.... Here, they just don't care.

I don't think their not trying, they just do not seem to be on top of their game today for some reason, key passes which would lead to scoring chances are not clicking and their slow in their own end. The 3 goals have been due to poor defense by the U.S. and in my opinion a bad goal allowed by Esche on the 3rd one. I was hoping to see Esche give Laviolette something to think about for tomorrow but through 2 periods he has done absolutely nothing close to that.
