Amazing save on Kessel. The puck was behind the goalie and he reached back and grabbed it with his hand on his blocker.

The commentators on RDS don't appear to have much interst in calling the game. I've listened for two periods and rarely heard a Russian player other than Malkin or Ovechkin's names mentioned. They really have a problem with mentioning the defencemen in particular Is Alexei Yemelin playing? If so, can soemone PLEASEE tell his number? Might it be 28 or 20? Never mind; he just got a penalty; it's 20.

I swear it's the first time they've mentioned Yemelin's name since I tuned in halfway through the first period, and it's because he's getting a penalty. You'd think they could take enough time from their blabbing to mention the only Hab prospect on occasion to a predominantly francophone audience.

Maaaaaaaaaan, the Russians need to have a special anti-American team with its own coach for each tournament! It's just ridiculous when they can't easily handle the Americans even if they're playing twice as well! :x

Emelin is no 20.

RDS announcers are soooooooooooo bad, they suck big time.. TSN's Miller and McGuire look like geniuses compared to them. Geez, they don't even know the Russian coach's name.. It's GERSONSKY not BARIN.... :banghead:

Yep! Can you believe Montoya and Raikkonen will be together next year!

Cool, except that I don't like Raikkonen!

And Schumcher should really retire ... I mean PLEASE!

I love the RDS commentary, they are relaxed and have that nice family atmosphere, conversations come normally to them and they point out the good parts of a game that the viewer should know, as well as bring their own opinions and insights. I like it 100x more than some of the CBC commentators who could have their job replaced by a robot.

Raikkonen's my favourite, heh, but I like Montoya because he brings popularity to the sport in the US. Michael should retire godammit, he's the greatest ever and I'm sick of him!

I can't stand leroux or flynn. Pierre and Yvon are great though.

If I wanted a nice family atmosphere I'd watch the Brady Bunch.

I want them to call the freaking game, and as mentioned, they're blabbing about everything but the actiion on the ice most of the time.

I was really hoping to get to know the Russian lineup (my first time seeing them) but the coverage is so lousy that I'm still trying to figure out half the roster.

I think the Russians helped Montoya get back on his game early in that period with all those easy shots from the outside. They must have put at least ten long, relatively easy shots on him there. When they started to get better chances on the powerplays Montoya looked much more solid stopping them.

the one with the freaky visor is Ovechkin :D

Suter just called Khudobin "not a very strong goalie." Pretty much just saying they need to get shots on net. I agree they need to get shots, but it's not going to be that easy to score on Khudobin.

Turn on the radio if you want the game to be "called" I have my own eyes to see that player X is taking the puck in the offensive zone, is holding in, is passing to his D partner, passes it back, passes it again, oh what a hit!, passes it to the slot, broken up etc
Meh when something good happens on the ice the RDS commentators bring it up, if not I find myself listening to all of their conversations, they really know how to bring interesting details and say exactly what you want to hear.

A few weeks ago they had the 1987 All-Star game I think, they had modern commentary and it was great, when a player would touch the puck they would say what kind of guy he was in his day, his point totals that season, some stories that happened AFTER that All-Star game, it was really nice to hear about the whole careers of a player in the same time as you're watching him in that game.
