I hope it does. Even though he's younger, I'm so impressed by his calm, IQ and technical abilities. He's the goaltender of the future and he's winning. Unfortunately, investing in Primeau would just seem like a missed opportunity to develop a valuable piece going forward.
Fowler is terrific but Vincent believes in Primeau as I am sure the entire team does. I saw Primeau play dominant hockey down the stretch and he deserves a shot to see it through. Fowler will probably play more than people think moving forward.

Mailloux Goal/Farrell Assist 1:54
Mailloux Shot/Scrum 2:23
Reinbacher Goal/Xhekaj/Beck Assist 3:00
Engstrom Rush/Shot 3:40
Trudeau Chance 4:27
Mailloux Sets Up Xhekaj/Scrum 5:07
Kapanen/Beck Assists 5:38
Reinbacher With the Moves/Sets Up Roy 5:57
Farrell/Trudeau Assist 6:19
Roy Questionable Hit 7:30
Kapanen 2 Big Chances 8:04
Kapanen Goal/Mailloux/Roy Assist 8:46

I get your logic, but Fowler has outplayed him in the post-season. He's helping Laval win and the added bonus is that he's a key piece going forward. I would take the risk of alienating Primeau and him asking for a change in the summer, even if it means he develops into a good goaltender elsewhere. I'm not sure he has the mental makeup to play in Montreal and he seems like a good person who could become an NHLer in a lower pressure environment. I know some people keep regretting every player the team moves who becomes a good piece elsewhere (see Kovacevic), but some players are just better fits in other organizations and I'm personally happy for the players when they find their place, even if it means we lost them.

Both teams had to shake off the rust as it's been a week for Laval since their last game and Rochester's last game was May 1st, I don't think I've ever seen a pro sports league go 2 weeks from 1 playoff game to the next. The refs sucked for both sides with some weak calls and some missed as I don't know how they missed calling a penalty on Roy there, did the refs close his eyes as he was right there.

I thought Beck and Farrell were 2 of their better players, Mailloux with the offense but also could have cost them with the boneheaded let me try and kick the puck when I'm on the point but misses it. Reinbacher with the goal and once again showed good things in the offensive zone. I haven't been too impressed with Kapanen but I thought for sure he was going to score with that open net, nice tip on the goal though.

Not the best game from Xhekaj, Davidson, ABB, Dauphin, Gignac, RHP and Simoneau. Primeau in 2 games has let in 7 goals, Fowler in 3 games has let in 3 goals which 1 if they had replay in the AHL wouldn't have counted since it was clearly off-sides. That decision almost cost them as once again the team did not play very well in front of Primeau but a win is a win and now Laval is in a great spot.

Primeau 💯 % needs to move on but right now he could help Laval win the Calder Cup. Without a doubt Fowler is the guy that might get that done but I think Vincent is juggling this carefully. If Fowler stones Rochester on Friday you have to go with him. We will know more after game 2.

I'd go Fowler and keep playing the hot goalie

I wouldn't make a major desicion until the off season

What strikes me most with Fowler is his ability to absorb pucks and not give out many rebounds. That’s an elite quality in a goaltender and he seems to be a stabilizing presence in net.

For me, its the hockey IQ. He sees the ice really well. Add a solid mental makeup and you get a prospect who's interesting enough that I'd like to see the team go full Gainey and bet on that horse.

So is Mesar just scratched ? A healthy scratch ??

Could he be faulted on the 1st 3 goals though? The 4th one...was weak.
Did not see the game tonight - too busy enjoying the Leafs game - but his overall history with the Habs . . . I stand by my statement. I’m sure he’s a good kid but he seems to lack some mental toughness. Perhaps a “mental coach” or sports psychologist would help.

Simoneau suffered an injury and didn't finish the game. I suspect that Tuch will play next game.

Engstrom is an amazing skater. He weaved his way around the offensive zone seemingly at will. On one occasion he did couple of laps around the zone while Bruno Gervais totally ignored him and blathered on about God only knows what.
