He had a great playoff run a few years ago and he was the best goalie in the AHL after December. 21-2-2 is a significant record. Why? He is mentally weak, the worst thing that a pro athlete can be.

Fowler is terrific but Vincent believes in Primeau as I am sure the entire team does. I saw Primeau play dominant hockey down the stretch and he deserves a shot to see it through. Fowler will probably play more than people think moving forward.I hope it does. Even though he's younger, I'm so impressed by his calm, IQ and technical abilities. He's the goaltender of the future and he's winning. Unfortunately, investing in Primeau would just seem like a missed opportunity to develop a valuable piece going forward.
I just don’t see how when one has just shown you two sub .900 games and is not part of your future.

PrimeauI get your logic, but Fowler has outplayed him in the post-season. He's helping Laval win and the added bonus is that he's a key piece going forward. I would take the risk of alienating Primeau and him asking for a change in the summer, even if it means he develops into a good goaltender elsewhere. I'm not sure he has the mental makeup to play in Montreal and he seems like a good person who could become an NHLer in a lower pressure environment. I know some people keep regretting every player the team moves who becomes a good piece elsewhere (see Kovacevic), but some players are just better fits in other organizations and I'm personally happy for the players when they find their place, even if it means we lost them.
I'd go Fowler and keep playing the hot goaliePrimeau% needs to move on but right now he could help Laval win the Calder Cup. Without a doubt Fowler is the guy that might get that done but I think Vincent is juggling this carefully. If Fowler stones Rochester on Friday you have to go with him. We will know more after game 2.
One way or another Jacob Fowler will make the goalie situation much clearer Friday night.I'd go Fowler and keep playing the hot goalie
I wouldn't make a major desicion until the off season
What strikes me most with Fowler is his ability to absorb pucks and not give out many rebounds. That’s an elite quality in a goaltender and he seems to be a stabilizing presence in net.
While Kent Hughes and his staff are at their Brossard war room, Buffalo management is attending this game:
Yes. He stinks. So is Mesar just scratched ? A healthy scratch ??

I’m aware of his record. But he’s shown that when “pushed,” he’s mentally fragile/weak.He had a great playoff run a few years ago and he was the best goalie in the AHL after December. 21-2-2 is a significant record.
Could he be faulted on the 1st 3 goals though? The 4th one...was weak.I’m aware of his record. But he’s shown that when “pushed,” he’s mentally weak.
Did not see the game tonight - too busy enjoying the Leafs game - but his overall history with the Habs . . . I stand by my statement. I’m sure he’s a good kid but he seems to lack some mental toughness. Perhaps a “mental coach” or sports psychologist would help.Could he be faulted on the 1st 3 goals though? The 4th one...was weak.
Does it matter? He gave 4 goals in a game that was not dominated by the other team. I mean number 1 goalies make big saves it's not illegal.Could he be faulted on the 1st 3 goals though? The 4th one...was weak.
