Checkers have a strong mature team, not sure why you would build a vet team to win the Calder cup when this league is all about kids and development... At least it gives our guys a strong opposition and some adversity to push the pace at another level...

It depends. In some cases, the farm team does not have the same ownership as the nhl team. Colorado's farm team is an example of this, so that owner has no incentive to develop players over winning

I dont know the Charlotte ownership situation though.

Florida doesn't have prospects, they trade them for immediate help which then makes the Charlotte GM fill the roster with AHL vets.

I guess they can be used for trade bait down the road but we all know you have to have large players that can play.
I have to be consequent with my thought process. You know my take on BPA...at one point, a smaller player will become BPA. I believe Farrell was it. Hey Cole Caufield when we picked him called him a steal...;)

We wouldn't have Caufield and Hutson if we were thinking like that. But I'll agree that right now we can't have other smaller guys.

This is done, over, cooked, dead.....

Our damn forwards can NOT push through their defense, how exactly are we suppose to score?

Our defense is getting run around like peewee.

It was great up to 3 games ago...and now were just showing up...

ahl veteran rule is 6 players with min 260 pro games includes ahl, nhl and euro pro but not echl plus one of them is veteran exempt with 261-320 pro games and the other 5 have to have played over 320 pro games, also have to be 25 years old to be a veteran

Everything you call Mailloux Mailman I stop reading your post. Sorry that is not a nickname that is sticking.
Do you really want me to reply to this?

I'm not sure why mailman offends you but that's your choice. I coined that last year when I expected him to score...deliver the goods. It's better then calling him by a Greek nick name this year based on how he plays some games...

Hey call him what you want, I just am not a fan of that nickname. That doesn't take away from your good posts overall.

When I see smallish, slow players like Farrell I ask myself why these types of players are drafted, same with why Mesar was drafted in the 1st round.

Well, Farrell was a 4th round pick and has lapped the other 4th round picks we made with size that year. His production as a 4th round pick in his 2nd AHL season has been largely good. It's a bet on a smart, highly skilled player with a low value pick. Id make that pick a thousand times over.

Mesar is an elite skater so that doesn't really track and he was a scratch ticket on high offensive upside at the end of round 1. For every Mesar there's a Colton Gillies or a Michael McCarron or a Dylan Mcilrath

The pregame dust up before game 2 seems to have rattle the guys, they are either playing scared and/or the refs call the softest infractions on them, Jackeye is a marked man by the zebras.

Checkers forcing the rocket D to make long passes with a 3man forecheck, its killing every chance to have a clean breakout. They need to bring both winger way closer to make a simple short pass so the winger can skate out with control. If they pressure the winger it can easily lead to a 2 on 1
Yup they play a three zone game and we haven't found a way to stretch them out.
