Laval Rocket: GDT: Game FOUR- Rochester at Laval 7PM EST

Fowler is the future but this team battled hard all year to get where they are and Primeau established himself as arguably the best goalie in the AHL. Yes in an ideal scenario you could give the net to Fowler like they did to Price back in 2007. Primeau would have been the starter had he not been called up so the premise that Primeau took the net from Fowler is not accurate. Fowler is the back up on this current team, a very promising player but this is Primeau's team.
Fowler's time starts next season.

Then they gotta get rid/not qualify Primeau this summer. You can't have it be Fowler's team while Primeau is still here and we've all seen that he just isn't a fit in the Montreal market. He'll probably do well in a more low-key market like Seattle, etc. but not here. If the team does decide to stick with him on this run, hopefully they win, he shows out and his trade value increases enough to be considered a decent piece in a trade package

He lost his spot to Dobes and Fowler is going to need to be the alpha dog in Laval next year with a solid veteran back-up goalie.

I would shop Primeau all summer but then let him battle it out in camp if there's no trade opportunity there. Maybe he wins the back-up job and we can tandem Dobes/Fowler for a year to see if Primeau can up his trade value or even supplant Montembeault.

I think the plan (my guess) is to qualify Primeau and move him. Also, if the Habs are trying to get a 2nd line center and the GM says...throw in Dobes or Primeau and you have a deal...these scenarios can happen.
I expect Laval to sign a solid veteran AHL Goalie to help Fowler. Primeau no way is in Laval next season imo.
This season however it is his team. Fowler's time is next season.

Will depend on the performance for me.. since Fowler lost his net to Primeau twice for no reason. If Primeau has a stinker, then Fowler deserves another shot to get the net. But that would be as far as my rope would go at that point.
You can do that, but Levi and Greaves both played every game despite losing. I wouldn’t fault either of Laval’s goalies in their losses. The team played very poorly in their losses. I’m fine with whoever is in net as long as we win.

Those teams don't have a goalie of Fowler's quality or standing in the organization behind them, though.

What we've been able to do with our goaltending depth in a few short years has been impressive. Lots of opportunities to add to it this draft too. I like Frolov a lot.

I really can't follow the logic here. It's not gonna let either of these guys get in a groove and get hot, which is a requisite to win at any level.
I’ll enlighten you: Jacob Fowler is the organization’s “Chosen One.” His development is more important than to HuGo than winning a meaningless AHL championship. That’s the reality, bro.

Priimeau is the reason they finished 1st overall. No bad choice right now with him or Fowler.
Again, not a fan of Pascal Vincent for ridding on his veteran players... you know players without any real future with the Habs. They get all the primary minutes, removing significant ice time from the young players.

Vincent want that AHL cup hard for his coaching jobs future at the detriment of the Habs young player development. It's pretty obvious by now.

This is not true at all.

All young defenceman on the club are getting plenty of icetime. Mailloux is getting 1st pp duty and Engstrom and Reinbacher the 2 pp.

Who's getting the start tonight ? Fowler. Not the veteran.

I disagree. Winning the AHL Championship would be huge for prospects like Beck, Davidson, Xhekaj, Reinbacher, Mailloux, etc there's more down there than just Fowler.

Hopefully we close it out tonight.

I'm not sure playing golf would be better for their development.

That may be so but I think HuGo see it a little differently.

Thank you for the common sense answer.
1. There are several prospects who need developing, especially Reinbacher who missed most of the season, a long run for him is vital to make up for lost time.
2. Fowler isn't the only prospect.
3. This team worked hard all year and for many of them this is their Stanley Cup.
4. The Fans love the prospects but they want to see a Championship team come out of Laval.
5. Ask Maxim Lapierre how important it was in 2007 for the Hamilton Bulldogs and what it meant to him and the vets to win the Calder Cup.
A guy like Tyler Wotherspoon who has played over 700 AHL games wants to win.

It isn't just about Jacob Fowler.

That's how you develop young players and build a winning atmosphere.
