Laval Rocket: GDT- Game 3 Cleveland at Laval 3 PM EST

You get what you deserve when you take out a goalie who wins you two games and is fresh off a shutout.
That has nothing to do with the entire team not showing up thinking it would be easy. This loss wasn't on goaltending, it was on the coaches and the players thinking Cleveland would roll over.

And Cleveland getting a fresh look against a different goalie. Enabled the opponents to think things can be different, and it was.

They have a better chance of golfing earlier by playing the 20-year-old rookie goalie with a total of 4 AHL games of experience than by playing the 25-year-old vet who has lost only 3 games in regulation this year in the AHL.

They have a better chance by rolling with the goalie who just beat the same team 2 consecutive times and only conceding twice.

Why are some people on here so insistent on Laval continuing to play Primeau over Fowler? The dude has no future with the habs. He might not even get qualified this summer (or traded). Fowler is the supposed future. Carey Price got invaluable experience leading the team to a Calder cup at 19. Fowler doing so right now would be fantastic for him and the habs organization

Some people just have to defend any choice that is made by someone in the organization. They needlessly created a problem by starting Primeau last game. Fowler got the net and he earned to keep it. Sucks for Primeau, but Fowler wasn't going to go undefeated the whole way. Primeau would have gotten his shot.

I'm actually happy Primeau got his shot. Now Laval can put that narrative to rest and start Fowler in game 4. While it would have been better to just run with Fowler the whole time, and even if it wasn't totally on Primeau yesterday, the results are the results. Fowler should get his shot to run the team deep in the playoffs. I just don't see an argument for starting Primeau besides shallowly saying, he deserves it for his work in the regular season. What about the work that Danis and Halak put in before Carey stole the net from them? Even if you argue that Primeau gives them a better shot at winning (which I disagree with), what's more important, having a slightly better chance at winning the Calder or giving your supposed future no.1 G invaluable experience during a critical time to start his pro career

Because its what makes the most sense. I would rather see Fowler, but Primeau has earned it.

He was the best goalie in the ahl and was a big reason for Laval having the record they had. He deserves this opportunity far more than Fowler.

There is more to this than just who has a future or not with the habs. You're messing with the team morale at the worst possible time by not using Primeau. How is Pascale suppose to explain to Primeau and the players in the room that they will be using a rookie goalie over the best goalie in the ahl for the playoffs because one has a future with the habs and the other probably not? Primeau, also obviously, gives them a better chance at winning than Fowler.

The people stating that Fowler shouldve started game 3 and be the default starting goalie because of how he played game 1 and 2 would've been singing a completely different tune if the roles were reversed (Fowler was the best goalie in the ahl, and Primeau played game 1 and 2).

Fyi I've been saying it made most sense for Primeau to be starter for the playoffs way before the coaching made the decision, so it got nothing to do with defending the organization.

Also wouldn't be surprised if they end up doing a rotation of goalies.

I was saying play Primeau game 3. Let him get his opportunity cause he earned it. But playing him in game 4 is dangerous. What if he loses? It looks like you just took out a goalie coming off a shutout up 2-0 and now you're on a 2 game losing streak and what are your opinions? Continue to play the goalie that just lost 2 in a row against a goalie that might have been the hottest goalie in all of hockey in the last month in an elimination game? Play a rookie with very little professional experience in an elimination game after taking him out of a 2 game winning streak? The only logical answer is playing Fowler in game 4. You can try Primeau is game 1 of the next series if that's really what you want for team morale but how was team morale when Demidov came onto the habs and in just 4 games, got on the PP1? When you have those calibre of players, which Fowler is imo, you make the exception.

The way you’re talking is it cost them the game. It most definitely did not.

We can't run a simulation to know. But what we do know is we traded a guy who won two straight against the same team, coming off a shutout, for a guy who let in 3 goals on less than 25 shots. The move didn't pay off, predictably, as there was only a downside to making that switch.

This team is so stacked that not playing the best goalie in the league was the right move.

I guess this makes him second best goalie in the league then :naughty:

Again. He wasn’t the reason they lost.

Again, the decision making was flawed and there's literally no way to say he wasn't. He posted a sub .900. If Fowler is jn net, everything changes from how they handle dump ins. Which rebounds they do and don't control. What the opposition tries to do on said goalie.

we're running parralel threads?

primeau was average snd thie team lost it's heyna edge in game 3. Our two "prime" RHDs each made an error that ended up as a goal so here we are. ..

Let's see if they go back to their hardcorr roots and hit everything that's breathing.
