Laval Rocket: GDT- Game 3 Cleveland at Laval 3 PM EST

Joshua Roy puts as much effort playing hockey as I do washing the dishes.
It's typical of guys who are playing this sport because they are great at it...and not necessarily because they'll do what it takes to go to higher levels. Really wonder how many years it takes before he goes to Europe or just stop playing hockey completely.

I mean it's insane...kid was in the NHL. You are close than everybody who are career AHL'ers. And yet...nah...I'm good...lol

And why do we care? None of the players in the ECHL will ever play in the NHL. Also other goalies like Emond and Jones did good in the ECHL this year.

I guess Fowler is our only kid not needing any playoffs experience, He is that good.
He played 2 games, didn't he?

I think they want to avoid the Laval/Mtl pressure for now with him.

Sry for not putting any like to anyone post, I cant anymore with all the infractions I've received 😀

They were killing a bit of rebuild time for the goalies *they* drafted, because we could afford it when the mentality was 'wellllll if we lose a lot it's not the worst thing right now'

Guys, they are not re-signing Primeau lol
It's a little naive to think it too I'm sorry
Gotta put on your shrewd businessman GM hat for this one, not the 'fan GM' hat

I don't think it's naive. Primeau has one more year til he's UFA. I'd keep him too as 3rd string & leave Fowler in the AHL the entire year with no chance of call-up.

Montembeault - Dobes and Primeau - Fowler gives us quality goaltending depth we haven't had in a long time. Primeau gets the call if there is injuries in Montreal. Fowler & Primeau split in Laval.

There is zero reason to rush Fowler, and Primeau is a good teammate who I think will be a good AHL mentor for Fowler.

Primeau is definitely getting his Q.O. Hughes loathes giving up any assets for free. He wouldn't even waive Pezzetta. I would give Primeau a one-way, $850,000 NHL contract and see if he clears waivers next year.

Why? Genuinely asking
We have to be realistic here in the thinking with this

Next year the AHL tandem will be Fowler/veteran

WHY that 'veteran' will NOT be Primeau, as silly as this SEEMS to sound,
Is they do not want a situation where they're giving Primeau 'false hope' that maybe he can still maybe be the guy after all in the NHL (which he just isn't sadly)
Where this management team did NOT draft him and will be *26* next year

They drafted the now 20 yr old Fowler and they want to see if HE will be the future NHL starter
And will insulate him the way they just did for Dobes THIS year
They didn't bring Hughes to chaperone Primeau, it was for the young Dobes
Who has since graduated to NHL
So that 'void' of 'prospect starter' will not not be filled with the guy who FAILED at his NHL tries and is no longer a prospect..
And they won't tap him to be the veteran to chaperone Fowler

It's too awkward a situation
People can scoff at that and it's fair I understand, but in THIS situation
It's a real thing

It'll be Fowler/ veteran
And the thinking Primeau will be re-signed is completely naive and backward thinking
Gorton looks ahead.

Looked more like a wrestling bout.

Labate DDT'd Florian there.

They won't let him go for free. He's too good for that.

Sign and trade.

Fowler will be 21 next season. Having him as a number 1 goalie in the AHL would not be rushing him. And if Primeau is in the AHL Fowler wont be the number 1. People need to stop being silly with the rushing thing.

I just sincerely disagree bud
And it's cool!
We'll obviously see what happens

But are you really of the thinking having Fowler starting AHL games next year is "rushing him" tho..?

He's already 2-0 in the playoffs at 20 yrs old ffs lol....

If I were to say "Fowler should be NHL backup behind Monty next year!!"
I could see people say "whoa don't rush him"

But this is not the case here
Especially after the year the Habs just had, the ball is *actually* rolling now
And there's NO WAY they're gonna just have Fowler sitting on the bench in the minor leagues.
It's just not happening

I don't *hate* Primeau at all btw lol
I'm just letting people know, listen, the Primeau ship has sailed...
And I wish him ALL the best moving forward

IMO, Roy has genuine talent but not the same work ethic
Roy was drafted in the 5th round. Skilled lazy players who are not super small are drafted in the first 3 rounds. Roy does have qualities but he's not skilled anyway not at the pro level. Gallagher was drafted in the 5th round because he's about as tall as my mom.

We have some impressive young guys in Laval.

Reinbacher
Fowler
Xhekaj
Kapanen
Beck
Engstrom
Farrell
Mailloux
Davidson
Tuch
Trudeau

Mesar
Roy

Can't remember the last time we ice this type of team....
Not to take away from Kapanen. He looks best. But he has the disadvantage of not being a specialty or energy player like Xhekaj and Beck who have access to other doors to get into the NHL.
