With the way Fowler played tonight it should be him, why mess around as he looked very calm, the 2nd goal was a knuckle puck so can't really fault him. But their best player in the 2nd half of the season has been Xhekaj and he barely played tonight, Davidson as well as he has been one of their best players all season. They opted to give Gignac and RHP more TOI despite both being out long. I barely noticed either of them but they got the win and that's what matters now as development kind of takes a back seat once you are in the playoffs imo.

With Kapanen, it's my understanding that he would have been able to be sent down had he not joined the Habs, as I know the only players they put on the clear day roster were Beck and Dobes but then Beck was later sent down. They have changed the clear day rules so maybe playoff games don't count now but I thought they do.

Agreed. I was as confused as you when I learned about. The finality of it is that the AHL is a poor league. The two teams are far from each other and they managed to saw one or two trips by doing all the away games at first (2) and keeping the final 3 at home.

I still think it's ridiculous. If Laval wins in 3 straight, Laval will have lost one full sell-out game.

Like it or not, AHL is a bit bush league.
