16 guys from the Slovak team can return next year. Canada should be ready for revenge.

yeah but their core is gone and Canada has a 2nd core coming. Yager, Benson, Cristall, Beck, Savoie, Geekie etc.

Pretty sure Slovakia is less competitive next year, even if Dvorsky and Strbak do well.

It’s good to see the Czechs and Slovaks playing at the top level again.

Goes to show how playing in men’s leagues can help develop young players.

Majority of Czech and Slovak players in this tournament are playing junior leagues in the North America. Both Czechia and Slovakia have crappy junior leagues, and elite men's leagues are dominated by veteran players. There is a little room for youngsters to play decent minutes and show up. So, many of them are leaving for the North America, some also for Finland or Sweden. Which is not always bad, but I wouldn't say the system in either country is working well. There are good development programs for, say, U16 players, but players between 16-20 years of age kind of have to make in on their own.

Chechia (obviously under the name 'Czech Republic' formerly) seems to have been doing something very good over the last decade in developing and getting some good players to their WJC teams. It's up and down of course, but am I wrong in thinking they have shown steady improvement?

Core is gone? :D What? The only one who will probably be gone is Nemec

That was a hell of a game. Can't ask for better entertainment than that.

Still concerned that team Canada can't do much at even strength without Bedard on the ice, but at least they're past the quarters.

Somewhere in multiple cities with their NHL clubs having shitty years, you have GMs telling the coach to bench all good players for the greater good.

Agree. The rest of the team needs to do something. It can't just be Bedard and Stankoven busting their humps while everyone else is standing around watching.

That was an all timer, still can't believe IIHF replace the shootouts with 3 on 3. Whats the difference? Brandt Clarke has looked terrible, can see why he wasn't even invited in the summer.
