GDT: GDT: Austria vs Česko

My man Kulich tried the fancy and then remembered who he was and just ripped the tar off of it instead.
 
Kulich from Svozil and Spacek.. I said before the tourney that a D will lead us in scoring... it might be a few D leading us in scoring.lol
 
Svozil with 2 points already, 4 in tourney. I know he plays with Bedard but I think he can carry offence on his own too. Suchanek, indeed, has 2 points in the tourney already!

Honest to god - this Austria team would be playing for relegation in D1A this year.

If they somehow avoid relegation - I’d be shocked..

The difference in quality between the team has been apparent in the first period. Austria quite clearly looks like the weakest team in the tournament. Latvia, Switzerland, Germany are all significatly better, different level really. But I still got the impression Austrian hockey is currently on the rise compared to, say, 5 years ago.

Defensive play, setting up action, supporting attackers, productivity? Just passing the midfield and carrying the puck is a problem, these elements form the foundations of Sweden's game and without Edvinsson, Salomonsson and Havelid it is scary to watch.

Now the Swedes will look like the Czechs of the last ten years and vice versa, the Czechs will look like a standard Swedish team. Try to guess who it will be great to see.
 
Needs to be pointed out what a good job Canada did blocking Jiricek's shots from the point.. he has that gift where he can get shots through traffic when not taking outright bombs (kind of like Bouchard before this season). Canada kept him at bay from the point with some heroic shot blocks.
 
I really don't mind the Michigan attempts... I was just glad we stopped both. On another good Canada note.. Milic shut us out! He played great. Heard a guy from the team just say they didn't respect us enough and that's what I think happened. FTR... don't blame Canada for taking us lightly becuase they always slaughter us. I don't want a rematch.

The Michigan attempts were just stupid low percentage plays that don't lead to winning hockey. Its ridiculous if they did have little respect considering the Czechs have a pretty good roster.
 
Is this Canada interview for real? By far your best player almost scored on a michigan and created so many scoring opportunities and yet that's what's indicative of the lack of "compete"? I don't get it.
