GDT: GDT #78 New York Islanders vs New York Rangers | April 10th | 7:30 PM | F/L 9-2

I still struggle to understand why all of these defenseman were taken out of the lineup when they clearly played better without their actual roster players in.
The only thing I keep coming back to is that Roy will not mess with the core players on the team. He'll rattle Duclair's and Engvall's cages but when it comes time to be firm with Dobson or Pelech or Pulock or Cizikas he won't do it.

We could have traded Pulock, Pelech & Mayfield? New winds, but no. God these NTC's, NMC's... really piss me Off.

Lee, Horvat and Pelech all Minus 5
Palms and Pulock Minus 4
When the big names fail this bad, the Veil has been pulled off the Turd!

Is it Roy or is it Lou won’t let Roy bench the core he so believes in?

To be fair in my original statement Roy did bench Mayfield. But I do think it’s Roy, not Lou, that doesn’t feel like he should call out or bench the core.

I think the only thing upsetting about missing the playoffs this season is not getting to hear the arena rocking even one time this season. Even last year, down 3 games to 0, the arena was crazy after Barzy's OT goal in game 4. I know we were not going anywhere this year even if we made it so I am fine missing out, but gonna miss being at a game like that.

And Lou gets to hire yet another coach? This pathetic corpse of a GM is worse than Garth Snow. Clean house entirely or let them rot in an empty UBS for the entirety of ‘25-26 together.
Lou should have been gone a long time ago, but Roy gets nothing done. I have no feelings either way but it’s obvious he’s not improving the team. I fully expect he’s gone when the season ends.

I think only the Home Opener (Ovi's 895 is an outlier imo) reached anywhere close to that this season.

I was a full STH first year at UBS, then did a half, quarter last year, none this year and only went to 3 games this year (Home Opener (Blown late lead, OTL), loss to NJD in OT after blowing another late lead, W vs a bad San Jose team. Im a die hard and I'm 30 now, my interest has waned year over year. They need a complete overhaul of the organization, it's gotten worse than stale. It's gotten pathetic.

This is what we miss without Trotz. That first season he went and sat Pelech and Pulock at times if I recall. By the end of the year you could make the argument they were a top three shutdown pair in the entire league. He could have 100% sat Mayfield. Pelech also could have been sat for a game or two.

The goal is to win games, not make underperforming players feel good.

Interesting. I really don't see a genuine reason why he won't sit guys but I also do not believe he has a roster to make it work. We saw this happen with Lambert too. Their best run was when Reilly and Bortuzzo were picked up for a short stint.

I keep going back to this but it is why I believe the core is dead. Replacing long term pieces with new blood would be super beneficial.

I agree with this 100%.

If we don't clean house it will be another long year next year with the fanbase completely disinterested and UBS empty. Season ticket holders and going to start bailing at a record pace.

If they bottom out the next year, the prize could be franchise altering.
