GDT: GDT #77 New York Islanders @ Nashville Predators | April 8th | 8:00 PM | F/OTL 7-6

Honestly one of the most pathetic performances I have ever witnessed from a pair of goalies on one team. Nashville had 37 shots the other night against Montreal backup and had one goal. Tonight they have 33 shots and get 7 goals. To try to put this in perspective, Nashville had 8 total goals COMBINED over the last FIVE GAMES and they had 7 against our sieves in net.

season was long lost before this game, this just puts the nail in the coffin with 8 points back with 5 to go.

Now, we hold our nose and root for NYR the next two games. They’re not making the playoffs, so we just root for them to avoid passing us in draft order.

It’d be very Islanders if they lose to the Rangers all year when we want them to win, then win on Thursday when we want them to lose.

Do you watch the games or just count the SOG after they end?

The defense is an absolute trainwreck yet it’s always “goalie bad” with you. You have a very black and white way of viewing the hockey world my friend

exclamation point on a forgetful season. Lots of work to be done in the off-season.

This is what we want, no? Losses like this server multiple positive purposes; fewer points and an embarrassing loss that in a perfect world should accelerate Lou's departure. It's all good.

In theory this is true...But the hold that Lou seems to have on Malkin is something different.

Yeah, it sucks and, unfortunately, is quintessentially Islander. We thought we finally had ownership that gave a shit and it turns out it that they're the kind of owners that don't care about winning but do care about charging 65 bucks for a ticket stub. Not a ticket, a stub. That fact will never not blow my mind from now until the day I die.

Good news: Holmstrom finishing strong

Bad news: Ashley Madison has dried up lately

Not much more to say about this one, other than how pathetic they look. Trying to find positives: Holmstrom looks good, and if Sorokin is injured for the season, with Hogberg starting, at least we are guaranteed to lose the remaining games and help our draft position.

Work to be done?! Lou just wants to find a decent second line center to replace Brock and we'll be right back in that sweet spot of competing for the 8th seed where, should we actually get in, we can then compete for and finally win the 2021 Stanley Cup.

Last couple of years, it's been much harder to keep up with this team. Part of it has been the work schedule, part of it has been that I don't live in NY any longer, and part of it is because they just make it so easy to not really bother watching. This season I have watched 2 full games: the season opener, which told me all I really needed to know about what we would get this season, and the game Sunday, which was more to watch Ovechkin make NHL history.

Seeing as how I know live in the Nashville area, my wife and now my 1 year old daughter make our yearly visit to see the team for our only game of the year. Each of the 4 times they've come since we've lived here, they have managed to out-clown themselves and find ways to lose. First year, it was enter the third with a 2-0 lead, but squander it and lose 3-2 in a shootout. The following, it was get throttled in the first, then come alive in the third to but come up short to lose 5-4. Last year it was the Matt Martin brain fart which lead to the Preds scoring with like 7 seconds left in the game and lose 3-2....and then this absolute clusterf*** this year.

I am honestly just absolutely disgusted with this f***ing team. They are a disgrace to the logo. There have been so many games over the 3 seasons where I've been like "why do I bother with this team?" between the Rangers stadium series debacle to the Carolina playoff game choke job and everything in between. But being there in person and spending good money to see it live and in person is just....enough. This team just needs to be absolutely gutted. Lou needs to be gone. Roy is not the guy and can take the bus/plane/cab outta town with him. About a third of the roster needs to be moved out for a bag of gently used jocks for all I care. Until major changes happen, I think I am done investing any money, time, thought, or energy into this team. As a fan for almost 25 years, it kinda saddens me, but I just don't have the stomach for this bullshit anymore

A comedy of effin' errors!

Can't help but just laugh...

Gotta love what Holmstrom (and his line - love seeing Tsyplakov there) has been doing. Simon is really turning into one of the best kept secrets in the NHL. No doubt!

But they could never hold a lead for even five minutes and I've gotta be reallll honest here... They'd have had this one if Horvat didn't have to be getting his stick all tangled up in Josi's legs.

There was ZERO reason to be doing that at that stage of the game.

You just skate with the guy and edge him off or force him to dump it in. You have ABSOLUTELY NO reason to be hooking and hacking there with your playoff hopes on the line and 2-goal lead with like 3 some minutes to go - with your back-up having to surprisingly jump in for the 3rd period.

As if he had no awareness for the situation. He just threw it down the drain.

Then they played an uncontrolled wild wild west OT.

Just a useless point.

Other than some of MacLean's mistakes (of which two were punished), liked the 4th line. Well, really liked what Gatcomb continued to bring and Martin has been doing as much as you could expect under the circumstances.

Ahhhh, so this is all on you, eh?

Can't go see those games no more!

Believe it or not, Dallas actually gave away a game last nght worse than we did!

Finally started to up his shot attempts lately, 30G if he hits 200 SOGs

Being in Raleigh i generally always go to the games when they are in town. Not the last two years...too much money to watch them not show up. However, will always be a fan of this team, have been since inception. Will always watch and will suffer far too much than i think is needed.

Ultimately, sure...i would love them to win another cup in my lifetime. Do they have to?, no...but i expect them to be competitive and to ultimately entertain me, make it fun...which for me means make the playoffs most years or die trying.

This year was not entertaining. There was little excitement. Each game started with the thought, how do we blow this one...or...anyone coming to play tonight...or...well, whatever. When we did get a lead it was like, how soon before we let them score.

This is one of the most poorly built teams we have had in a very long time and we know who that falls on.
Sorry...deviating....the Islanders are my team and i will always watch.....no matter how much i threaten to become a Seattle or Winnipeg fan.
