GDT: GDT #68 New York Islanders vs Montreal Canadiens | March 20th | 7:30 PM | F/OTW 4-3

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I do. They're an untalented team whose best quality is that they play scrappy.

It also helps we have one of the best goalies in the league who leads all goalies in scoring.

Fair, maybe I just don't understand the NHL in general in 24-25. How can a team with special teams that are this bad, be this close to a playoff position?

Are the 5v5 stats that much better than the rest of the league to outweigh the poor special stats?

And this is absolutely a feather in Roy's cap.

If we just had a mid pp and pk they would be thinking of clinching soon instead of it basically needing it to come down to the last game.
They are simply more healthy now than they were most of the season and I think the acquisition of DeAngelo and Reilly/Pelech returning stabilized this teams defense. They’re record now sans Barzal/Nelson supports the notion that the team’s core is underrated and in fact quite good. Throw in a great coach like Roy who just knows what to say at the right time and who is creating a positive winning environment and you have a team past injuries and all still in the thick of things.
