GDT: GDT #55 New York Islanders @ Minnesota Wild | February 8th | 8:00 PM | F/L 6-3

The goals against that were in off TDA, both of them, were partially on TDA, but they are also the result of mistakes elsewhere. Palmieri’s brutal giveaway at the blue line led to the one, yet he’ll never get benched or criticized. On the one that bounced in off TDA, Isles had a terrible line change on the PK that let the Wild have an easy zone entry and pass back to Gaudreau with absolutely zero pressure on him. Both are a combination of bad luck, TDA mistakes, and mistakes from the forwards prior to that. Poor hockey all round

??? That second goal was 100% on TDA. He literally shot it in his own net. Almost as if he had some $$$ riding on the outcome of the game. I haven’t seen someone do that since that Detroit defenseman did it in the playoffs many years ago.

I was criticizing Palms a-plenty in front of the the TV last night after that play. Does that count?

As for TDA, he was the laughing stock of this board for years because of his play (never mind all the "extracurricular activities"), but now all of a sudden he's the savior of the defensive corps? Please...

I don't think it's nuts to entertain the notion of trading Dobson, but the idea that Dobson is somehow expendable because of f***ing TDA is laugh riot.

He came back to early. Legs are his game and he has been unable to skate effectively since returning.

He hasn't looked good at all since he came back, but it's pretty common for a player to take awhile to get back to 100% after a groin injury, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. I don't think he's going to be much better for the rest of this season, but hopefully the off-season gives him the time he needs to fully recuperate.

You can laugh all you want but the eye test shows the fact is this team has played better, faster and with more pace with TDA, Perunovich and Boqvist than with Dobson, Pulock and Mayfield. Nobody is saying TDA is Paul Coffey, but the fact is Dobson is probably one of the most overrated players in the NHL and we can have a dman do what he does for half the price, while using him to get a difference maker on offense before his value plummets even more or even worse, we waste 9 million in cap space on him. For any faults they may have, watch TDA, Boqvist and Perunovich on the PP, and see how fast they move the pick and how they are always moving around. The PP with Dobson was stationary, he barely moves and the team could barely even get set up in the offensive zone.

I don’t think he likes him. We see that when he doesn’t like a guy they ride pine. Multiple scratches now too

Someone asked him post game and he very much dismissed the question about his ice time too
I guess Lou forced Roy to like him enough before the recent rash of injuries. Earlier this season Cholowski was on PP1. If Cholowski is in Roy's doghouse Lou should have called up a replacement (George) rather than short shift the D on B2B road games.

Video or it didn't happen.

agree completely, I was not defending TDA - he clearly holds a significant amount of blame for both goals. He is no replacement for Dobson, and I'd prefer he be sold off at the deadline along with the other UFA's, assuming there's a market for him at all

TDA has been pretty good since we signed him, I'm not writing him off for a bad game.

I mean he's not a top D man in the league, but he's been pretty darn good for us so far.
If Lou doesn't resign TDA it's a mistake unless he finds a free agent to fill his spot. I would suggest the Isles recent success is attributable to the 3 additions on the backend. TDA, Boqvist and Perunovich have added speed on the defense that's been missing since Nick Leddy and Toews were with the team. The PP has looked better, the puck movement from the defensive zone has been sharper and the team looks quicker as a whole. Dobson always looked kind of slow and awkward with the puck. I think resigning him should be based on his asking price. I don't think he's worth $7 million which seems to be a number I've seen mentioned. I'd let him walk for that.

Not too take the blame away from TDA on the goals tonight, but Palms has been a turnover machine for a while now. He tries to make too many moves and has been holding the puck too long. Most of the time it's in the offensive zone so it's not as costly (although it matters). The turnover tonight on TDA's goal, I feel was a major contribution to that play ending up the way it did.

Agree. The PP has been worlds different with TDA especially, but the others have done a great job too. I never would have thought 3 castoffs could make that much of a difference. TDA's puck moving has been refreshing, and I like what I've seen from Boq and Perunovich.

Don't need to hand out 7-8 year deals, but I think we found some really good pieces for the team. Mayfield has had his issues, Pulock, Pulock, and Dobson haven't been what was expected, and Reilly might not play again. George needs more time to see if he can make the jump. So having these additions for this season and at least two of them into next year I think makes a positive difference for the team.
