The good news is we scored 3 goals at 5v5.

The bad news is the Bruins did a number on us. The cycled and we had no answer for it, and they took away our time and space in the O zone. This was one of those games where we weren’t good or lucky.

This must be the lowest under .500 they've been before Thanksgiving in a while right? Putrid, putrid team.

They've got 8 wins and 15 losses. Please if you defend that record please step forward and announce yourself.

3rd coach in a row to fail with this roster. Maybe it’s the roster and not the coach

It is a shame we are one of the oldest teams in the league with almost no prospects

To all my spiritual-Isles beings. I love the Isles (hence). I’ve been ruminating about a rebuild. Blue jasper. Manifest destiny. Now it’s stream of consciousness; it was, it still is.

In 2013--another putrid year--the Islanders' record on Thanksgiving was 8-14-3. Drafting MDC and JHS in the 2014 didn't make it worth it either.

I seem to remember Vanek--Tavares--Okposo as one of the best lines in the league that year, but everything else was bad, like really bad.

Bruins played the night before and have had trouble scoring for a while now.

Nice that the isles are a get well game for them. Isles in the giving mood. Happy thanksgiving!

The team is playing to its potential and Roy knows it. As much as i would like to see him pissed off, he is right..."the team that Lou gave me (him)" they are playing well, overall. It is not a lack of effort or desire. For us that is not nearly a good enough sentiment nor an excuse, but to a coach who knows exactly what he has, that work is appreciated...and should be.

Now that does not make anything any better for us nor excuse the third periods but Roy knows exactly what he has and i am sure knows exactly where this will eventually go if things do not stay tight and get much better when 3 of of 4 starters return.

I see Roy as a patient man. His use of the phrase "we do the best with the guys we have" shows he knows. Instill a plan with the players you have and build on it...and you can see there is a change in approach and improvement in some areas.

I guess we will need to show some patience...more patience. I am thinking it will be 2026-2027 if Lou or whoever is in charge, makes the right moves going forward. I do not think it is a burn it to the ground type of thing but something you build on. Through subtraction at times if need be, but certainly taking advantage of anything you have to do so.

He’s a good and authentic interview. All the players prior during the postgame were trash, lobotomized responses.

You saw emotion and frustration and reality and I like that. Not his fault that we have significant injuries and he’s left with a roster of 2nd and 3 liners.

Happy Thanksgiving boys.

Exactly. What are we to do? Moan and complain? We’re stuck here without our best player, much of our experienced defense and an addition who was supposed to fill a critical need. Feel bad for Roy. He can only do so much with this roster. At this point to suggest we trade Barzal to improve this roster is a laughable suggestion. He’s the driving force behind this team’s offense. If that isn’t clear to Isles fans by now they’ll never get it. The sad thing about this is there’s a high probability that Lou is incorrectly assessing the situation and already thinking that all this roster needs now is a “new voice”.

People like to use that excuse but it was a couple of games, we weren't the only ones and we ended up 16 pts back of a playoff spot. If we'd missed by a handful then maybe, but 16, uh, no.
An interesting take on history. Perhaps your recollection doesn't include a factual account of what occurred.

A 13 game road trip to open the season. I'm sure you remember why.
The Covid outbreak on the team, which actually put Bailey in the hospital, certainly didn't get the same treatment as at least one other team received . I am sure you recall who and what.
These events happen over the first 20 or so games of the season. I'm sure you recall what their record was at that point.

Excuses - ok

Make em all you want. 16 points. Sorry, there are no excuses for that spread. You make it seem like we came out of that road trip with zero points and had to start from scratch. We were 11-13-6 through 30. Make it 18-6-6 instead. A gross overestimation of the teams ability but even at that, we still don't make the playoffs. So please, spare us the BS about how great we were but the league screwed us. 16 points. Here's the excuse, we weren't good enough.

They won 5 out of the first 20 games. The relevant potion of this conversation. How did the next 60 go?

Why pretend it didn't happen.
