They're so mentally inept. Youd think theyd set themselves because of their history. But they have no actual leadership to stand up. Horvat is paid big bucks to be a difference maker. He was gifted a glorious chance and couldn't convert from five feetDo you think this team gets tired of blowing third period leads?
How did we not get a powerplay on the Lee hit??? I mean f*** me. Every big call goes other way and it's just bad luck?
The leads have you thinking this team is close and is capable. But the collapses are that of a bad team. It’s getting late early. Lots of points left on the table so far this season.
The Isles gotta look at moving from the ‘older’ core at this point. This has been a theme for several years now. Like the leadership of this team, can’t hold it together AND lead? That’s just awful. They're so mentally inept. Youd think theyd set themselves because of their history. But they have no actual leadership to stand up. It really was an odd decision, given there’s a back to back later this week where Varlamov will need to start one. Varlamov is no longer a 1B goalie, and the Isles shouldn’t rotate their goalies like he is. And, as you say, Sorokin is paid big money to win games and should be starting most of the gamesAren't we paying Sorokin stupid money to be our #1? What is with this rotating goalies thing, we all know this team would live and die with Sorokin going back to his old form
Maybe, but that’s the kind of stat a team like Columbus regularly leads in - it doesn’t mean a turnaround is right around the corner, it means the team is badSidenote, I don't know if we can find this stat, but I would think we have to lead the league in amount of minutes we have led in games we lose. It is crazy.
I don't really agree with this. If they lack the talent other teams have, why is it most nights they have the lead for 45-50 minutes and then blow it with 10-15 bad minutes. When that has happened 4 times in 5 games, part of that has to be on the coach. This has to be mental for the players at this point.Lou deserves all of the blame, not sure Roy deserves any, he’s got a terrible roster to work with. And the players, just not good enough. That’s not really on them - they are trying as hard as they can, they just lack the talent other teams have. It is 100% on Lou
This is going on several years and several coaches. They can never get the extra insurance they need, that is a lack of talent issue. And systems wise, nothing changes in the last 15 minutes which would suggest a coaching issue. When other teams really start to press for a goal in the third, the Isles are outmatched and get scored against - also partially a talent issue. Maybe it’s a mental thing too, but I usually find that’s a reason coaches use when they can’t really explain what is happening or admit their team is simply not as good as the other team.I don't really agree with this. I’m someone that feels staying mid while retooling is way to go, it’s so much harder to go to bottom snd come back up but this is team that needs a roster cleanse. These lead issues in third are never going away until some of these players are jettisoned IMO. The guys who are hurt don’t help cause they are tremendously key players on a roster that when healthy I felt was pretty good and perhaps a 100 pt or so team but these lead things are clearly not going away.I don't really agree with this.
