Do you think this team gets tired of blowing third period leads?
They're so mentally inept. Youd think theyd set themselves because of their history. But they have no actual leadership to stand up. Horvat is paid big bucks to be a difference maker. He was gifted a glorious chance and couldn't convert from five feet

It’s getting late early. Lots of points left on the table so far this season.

Aren't we paying Sorokin stupid money to be our #1? What is with this rotating goalies thing, we all know this team would live and die with Sorokin going back to his old form

The Isles gotta look at moving from the ‘older’ core at this point. This has been a theme for several years now. Like the leadership of this team, can’t hold it together AND lead? That’s just awful.

On the plus side, since some like to read positive take aways from these games - Palmieri is doing well keeping his value leading to the trade deadline

It really was an odd decision, given there’s a back to back later this week where Varlamov will need to start one. Varlamov is no longer a 1B goalie, and the Isles shouldn’t rotate their goalies like he is. And, as you say, Sorokin is paid big money to win games and should be starting most of the games

Just to put things in perspective... Lyon has 3 wins against us and 1 win in 5 other starts against everybody else. How is that even possible?
With all these guys out we have managed to hang around the final playoff spot, but we badly need Duclair, Barzal and Pelech back soon (and it would be nice if Romanov could play two games in a row without a problem).
Sidenote, I don't know if we can find this stat, but I would think we have to lead the league in amount of minutes we have led in games we lose. It is crazy.

Maybe, but that’s the kind of stat a team like Columbus regularly leads in - it doesn’t mean a turnaround is right around the corner, it means the team is bad

Lou deserves all of the blame, not sure Roy deserves any, he’s got a terrible roster to work with. And the players, just not good enough. That’s not really on them - they are trying as hard as they can, they just lack the talent other teams have. It is 100% on Lou
I don't really agree with this. If they lack the talent other teams have, why is it most nights they have the lead for 45-50 minutes and then blow it with 10-15 bad minutes. When that has happened 4 times in 5 games, part of that has to be on the coach. This has to be mental for the players at this point.

This is going on several years and several coaches. They can never get the extra insurance they need, that is a lack of talent issue. And systems wise, nothing changes in the last 15 minutes which would suggest a coaching issue. When other teams really start to press for a goal in the third, the Isles are outmatched and get scored against - also partially a talent issue. Maybe it’s a mental thing too, but I usually find that’s a reason coaches use when they can’t really explain what is happening or admit their team is simply not as good as the other team.

I’m someone that feels staying mid while retooling is way to go, it’s so much harder to go to bottom snd come back up but this is team that needs a roster cleanse. These lead issues in third are never going away until some of these players are jettisoned IMO. The guys who are hurt don’t help cause they are tremendously key players on a roster that when healthy I felt was pretty good and perhaps a 100 pt or so team but these lead things are clearly not going away.

Don't forget that he had off-season back surgery. Perhaps they don't want to over work him so early in the season in light of that.
He played a lot of games a year or two ago and wore down. Playing 2 of every 3 games is more than reasonable. That’s 55 games. I guess some people think he should be playing 70+

How do they look themselves in the mirror as professionals shitting themselves as much as they do in every single third period?
That's because every time they look in the mirror they see this guy extolling the benefits of basketball defense once you have a one goal lead. Bad habits are hard to break. The turtle mentality started with this guy folks and to some degree his mentor with his play not to lose strategy. If this team will learn it it's just going to have to take more time- that is if the team is not blown up before then or Roy is fired for his assistant coach with Lou at the controls of the merry go round. I don't think what we are watching was worth those 2 ECF's. No way. That said, I still have a crazy faith in this team and I believe under Roy and if they get healthy sooner this team still has a shot at the playoffs. What happens after that? Who knows?

Fire Lou already
Roy and lou IMHO. yes the roster is from Lou but Drastic changes need to happen

At some point questions need to be asked of the coaches, players and management alike. When this repeats itself vitrualy every game, it's down to them all.
that's how i feel. this is a complete "team" issue from top bottom. Players Coaches GM. Radical Changes need to happen

They won the previous game but conceding that early goal in third was a huge red flag for me.
With their recent history they should have been on high alert in the third and come out with a mission.
Instead they conceded in 15 seconds.
They are mentally weak.
Doesn't help that nine players simply do not score.. the defencemen and fourth line.
And Horvat is the big gun, but he's been average this season. The amount of grade a chances he's missed is amazing. He seems to fluff 1 or 2 a game. Last night he did it again. Should have put us up 3-1. He's not netting any on PP either.

Same Movie year after year "Night Of The Living Vanilla Robots (Who Melt Down In The 3rd)"
I do not believe anything changes when we get The Duke, Barzy and Pelech back either...
Time to sell this trade deadline so we do not have to watch anymore "B-Grade" movie repeats....
