Well, yes. That is fair

This team will never learn. They just don’t maintain layers of defense, and let the other team just march into their zone when they have a lea
That crap was pounded into their heads for 6 years what do you expect? That’s exactly what they were taught to do create a perimeter and defend it. So stupid! I beg Roy to save this team from that putrid disease. Thank god they won this game but this skating backwards playing not to lose with a one goal lead has got to absolutely STOP! You could just see the frustration in Roy at the end of the game slamming his foot on the ground after they got the 3rd goal. Don’t let the other team just dance into the zone approach and knock out the puck carrier dammit! Right now they are still turtling to hold onto small leads. They start slowing their skating, skate backwards, start puck watching and they are too slow to retrieve the puck. They always lose the puck battles. Play legal but dirty the last few minutes in a game. At their best a few years ago to close down games they skated aggressively with their heads down and were always first to get the puck in man on man battles along the boards. What happened to that? Right now they still have a bit of that Lambert basketball defense in them. When will they be cured?

But a win is a win so I guess I’m happy

Patrick Roy:

“I thought that we did a good job making sure we don’t get rid of pucks and we protect those pucks and get out as a swarm,” coach Patrick Roy said. “The last five minutes, I thought we had phenomenal breakouts. We moved the puck, wow, giving us three-on-twos and you know what? Usually, that’s what happens when a team is pressing and they want to come back in a game and try to win.

“So if we do a good job in that area, we’re gonna have those chances because they have to open up. They have to pinch. They have to take chances. Today I thought in the last five minutes, we did a really nice job moving those pucks and moving it out. I was really happy the way we did it.”

Exactly! It’s not rocket science.

The team will get there, eventually. May not be with all of these players, but with Roy i feel confident he will get his team to play the way he wants it to.
