I suppose if they were winning it would cure everything but one of the sadder parts of the season thus far is that they’re just boring to watch.

With that in mind, can we call the arena U Better Sleep?

Don't tell the people around here that. Just making the playoffs is and has been the gold standard for most of the fans on these pages for as long as I've been looking at them. It's organizational, from the the very top down to the people who post here. Being actually good and, god forbid, at least somewhat entertaining to watch matters not at all. The most plain vanilla franchise in hockey.

That’s not remotely true. Trotz was a huge positive and Lou brought stability. Unfortunately Lou can’t make the moves needed to give this team a chance to win the cup. 2 straight conference finals and unfortunately both times we ran into a juggernaut that used a loop hole in the cap to win.

The shingle best thing in the last 10 years to happen to this organization is the new arena. It guarantees that the team will be here for the long haul.

Lou needs to go. The roster needs a lot of turnover, but Roy is not the best thing to happen to this team in the last decade.

The new car smell of Lee-Horvat-JGP has worn off. Nelson and Palms have trailed off as well. What I will say is that Nelson and Palms have had some good looks still and just can't finish. I believe lines will go back to or similar to what they were on Opening Night.
The 4th line is difficult to watch right now!

The only player I see flashes of offensive brilliance is Tsyp, which is a problem considering he was just picked up from the KHL.

I’ve seen some stuff I like from the team, the George promotion and really good play , the reconfiguration of the lines etc.. but our GM needs to roll the dice if we want to be more than a pretender. It comes with a loaded risk factor but if Lou is a hall of fame GM, he needs to take his experience and make a huge move which should involve a Barzal , Dobson or Nelson to reconfigure what is currently an average group who’s prize at the end of a season is a playoff spot. Beyond that ain’t happening

Should honestly just tear it all down. Team has given up a third period lead way too often since game 2 of the Carolina series in 2023. Its depressing.

I think Roy likes he’s D to handle the puck. They transition so much better now then under Lambert. If you play Hutton you are back to 4 one dimensional dmen who struggle to move the puck. I think he wants to go the opposite way. More dmen that can transition. Skate. Move the puck. And hopefully drive some production. Not shot blockers who just fire pucks around the boards. That’s Lou/Barry world.

I think Roy may need to tailor his gameplan for the players he has on hand. He may want his defense to handle the puck but it hasn't translated to goals. The Islanders don't have the type of shooters who can find the back of the net with enough consistency. Haven't had that for several years. We're 25th in the NHL in offense. It's time for Roy to concede to it and adapt. He's not going to get blood from stone hands.

Trotz was a huge positive and Lou brought stability.

This is so cliche amongst Islander fans but when exactly did Lou bring stability? After he fired Trotz or after he hired Lambert because I don't think either of those decisions were stabilizing that is- if Trotz really was a huge positive. On the surface this team seems like a hot mess. How is that stabilizing? Maybe Lou himself is the destabilizing force as many are now suggesting but then we can't really say he brought stability can we? It really is a concundrum but I'm sure some can weave a long winded rationalization for that statement. This is why I think the hiring of Roy was the best thing to happen to this franchise in a long time. I think he can turn this thing around especially when the team is healthy again.

I see those flashes as well but I think his talents are being underutilized. He needs to be around playmakers to get that shot of his off much more often. He needs to be around players who can make plays on the rush. Barzal and Duclair are such players.

We got a couple of them but unfortunately they are licking their wounds right now.

Watching Noah Dobson not piss away points would be a welcome return.

They looked very much like a team at the end of a lengthy road trip last night. If they had pulled the points out of Seattle and Calgary that were available this would sting a little less.

The decision to dress George over Hutton burned them. Likely in both games. Having him out there with less than a minute remaining was puzzling.
