Oh Capt, my capt! One of my fav movies ever.
Ha- thanks for catching that. I finally convinced my college age daughter to watch that movie. She loved it and you could hear a pin drop during the end. I got choked up just like I did all those years ago.

Carpe Diem my brother!!!

Yeah I mean just responding to posts on the message board we’re all on. I’m sure we’ll win the next game and it’ll be the anti-Barzal contingent’s turn again… but for now I’m going to keep pointing out how dumb that sounds
The suggestions are insane. We have a player- under an appropriate system that showcases his talents is an 80 point player, a playoff performer, and a great team player who wants to play for the Islanders who is the least of the Islanders problems. He is not costing the Islanders games and he has proven that he can produce icecapades non withstanding. It is absolutely foolish to think we can trade him to another team for another 80 point player that would benefit both teams. Why would any team do that- unless you are dumb as Calgary and their best scoring player is a defenseman right now. Barzal doesn’t need a new line mate, he just just needed a new team system around him. They have that now. The team needs him back to be the game breaker he will be under Roy. You watch. His return is imminent and when they start racking up the wins again what the detractors going to say?

5v5 they look pretty good. Hard to believe this is the same Lambert team. They create enough and defend pretty well. Cant finish though. And then when it’s not 5v5 in any situation…they suck. It’s a little baffling. Been going on for awhile now too.
Believe it. It is the same team. The only thing that was completely revamped from the previous 2 coaches was the system. Too bad the injuries to Duclair and Barzal happened so early. The finishing should improve once those two return and rack up their assists. The team needs playmakers that’s exactly what’s missing. Playmakers are able to pull goaltenders and defenders out of position to give up goals that are harder to defend. Thats what makes playmakers like Barzal so effective. You can have all the shooters you want but without the set up man-unless they are Bossy, the goaltender usually has the advantage. That’s why this team has all these scoring opportunities but few goals. Its not so simple as point and shoot oftentimes. Luckily we have a great set up man in Barzal and it would be insane to let him go.

The real test will be whether they trade Nelson/Palmieri; it's one thing to keep picks, another to move pending free agents for picks. The latter would suggest they finally realize the team's current make-up won't work
They have time for this though, if they stay in it they aren’t trading them but if they fall out of it I could see it. Palmieri has really played well under Roy, it’s not as if we have any prospects pushing him out right now so he could be guy they keep if he would be willing to sign short term for like two years.
