It was just a matter of time before the team got its mojo back. Roy hockey at its best. Love it! Never doubted these guys. Now go on a winning streak and let’s get back in this thing.

Was also watching for Raty to see if we gave up much in the Horvat trade; while there’s still time for him to develop, he really does not seem like a top 6 player, maybe not even top 9

The first line is more than holding its own. They've been awesome.
Best Pager and Lee have played for ages. And they are all keeping it simple.
When Barzal and Duclair come back be interesting to see what happens.
The second line has also been good.

It’s a beautiful thing watching Roy instill a winning mindset on this team. They had their growing pains but it’s wonderful to watch our players returning to their true selves. Believing in their abilities. Playing like athletes again. Playing to win. Very little turtling now in the third period. Remember those days? This is good.

It’ll be a crime if Roy breaks up that first line when Barzal comes back. Put him on line three, and on PP1, which does nothing anyway, with or without him

The team is playing more north south with Horvat driving the first line. Our top six is playing a heavier game with Lee, Palmieri and Tsyplakov looking really strong and JG looking pretty sandy as well. No complaints about the 3rd line either,

A lot of parallels between Dobson and Tyler Myers.

The trade Barzal/Dobson brigade should be looking at the dumpster fire in Boston. Wouldn't mind seeing McAvoy here.

Only watched the first period. Despite the quick first Vancouver goal (and a first career 1 at that, of course) I thought we were the better team by a long way

Waking up to a 5-2 win, wow good job. 3/4 against the 2 hardest opponents on this trip pleasantly surprised

Welcome to the 2024-25 season Pierre Engvall

Barzal was a great player when Tavares was on the team. He consistently looked to move the puck to the more senior players and made himself an option on the play. Tavares leaves , and he started to over handle the puck to the point teams could put 2 on him and eliminate any positive productivity. He became a very difficult player to play with.

After that first goal by Vancouver, figured it would be to bed by the second period....a very nice surprise and a fun game to watch.

But isn't it the coaches' job to figure that out and maybe make him the player he was in his youth? The isles have had a number of coaches going though the bench since Tavares' time and none have actually made him a better player.
I like Barzal a lot, but it is worrisome how the team improves without him, like last season.

Highlights look pretty good, though it did look like VAN was a little uninspired last night?

Damn, Lee looks great and Engvall seemed to be shot out of a cannon.

Varly struggling on his mid-blocker side?

Palmieri switching to the 2004 Ovechkin visor has brought him a fantastic scoring touch.

Haven't been able to watch many games so far this year, but looking forward to a free night where I can.
