This result isn’t frustrating or upsetting if you just accept that this is what the team is.

They’ve shown you that for years at this point.

The only frustrating part is the core being left intact.
you can sell me on any shake up at this point. i just don’t think they have the balls to do it. sooner they move on from dobson though the better. not a cornerstone player.

Idk what happened to Dobson this year. He’s always not been a GREAT defensive defenseman, but at least he would rack up points

Now he’s trash on both ends of the ice

Hopefully it means we can retain him for cheap and it’s just a glitch in the system

Was at the game in a section 75% devils fans , wasn’t pleasant
The were singing “we are the champions” in the stairwell

Bro, you barely beat a .500 team missing several key players, get bent

I don’t get to go to many games because I don’t live in NY anymore. The ones I do go to are usually against the western teams. I haven’t even gone to a ranger islander game since Simon tried to take Hollwegs head off. When I go to games like these it once again reminds me of the rival fans how irritating it can be.

Tough year for me as a NYJets/Islanders fan.

In the spirit of SOJ, I’d like to introduce a new term to the board. SOI.

If you know, you know.

What sucks is a regulation win would have put them in the last WC spot. Pissing away meaningful points.

The Isles are the most entertaining team to watch in the last few minutes of a game with a lead. It’s been happening for a few years now and every time I look at the defensive group it has Mayfield out there most nights. I thought they played a solid game and like the team better without Barzal. They just need to get quicker on the backend and George has helped but Hutton, Pulock, Mayfield need upgrades

Dobson standing next to the guys the score goal 2 and 3. That unfortunately sums up where we are at. Complaining about the core and the rest of it is nonsense. He is the goat here and has been dreadful. We're playing with 3 AHL defenseman in the lineup and yet he is ultimately least useful in the D zone. We have been more than adequate offensively, and 3 lines look pretty good. No PPs for us didn't help but whatever. Bottom line is you cannot expose a defensively inept player like Dobson for as long as we have without paying a price. If he was producing anything offensively, there might be a bit of a tradeoff. But he's not.

Holmstrom was terrific last night. The play in third period picked up physically and favored us. Don't see a lot of commentary on that. The Devils are supposedly a good team and we are playing with 5 regulars out of the lineup. Can't tell me that having a Romanov or Pelech in lieu of those extra minutes Dobsons was playing wouldn't have made a difference. Having Mayfield playing the right side as well.

Dobson is a riddle this year.
Anyone noticed how often he can't control puck at the point? The number of times it's been passed back to him and 'jumped' his stick is bizarre.

Yes I can tell you that this team blew leads like nobody’s business well before the injuries piled up.

And when they aren’t blowing leads, they simply aren’t scoring at all.

This place would probably be a bit more lively if there was more to discuss. Scoring so few goals really limits the conversation

No, it would be a lot more lively if people didn't post negatively 90% of the time. It's gotten tiring to posters like me who don't see a loss as the end of the world. You'll notice that many long time posters are just messaging each other instead of commenting here.

Did we play yesterday? :rolleyes::sarcasm:

This team just blows....Lou needs to start selling now...Roy has done nothing to improve this team either. Clean house (Management) first and start moving guys like Nelson, Parms, Pelech (if you can get anything for him) and others.

I'll be ok with a re-build or retool, whatever the hell you want to call it.

That was likely Holmstrom's most impressive performance as an Islander. When he isn't deferring puck possession to his linemates, he is a constant line driver. He's on pace to double last year's point production.

If George buried the OT winner, we'd be seeing a page of praise here. All the Debbie Downers here wanted change and new faces. You are getting some of it with those two and I'm sure I'll be seeing how we need to draft better while ignoring what's happening right in front of you.
