Only a fool would underestimate what Barzal brings to this team. THIS is the Barzal this team needs! Exactly what I want to see. Free Barzal! Love this kid!

This Carolina team is not the same team as last year..What happened? They look a step off of everything.

Sarcasm?

Being that we’re playing the Hurricanes and they haven’t stretch passed us to death yet, I’m satisfied with our game.

No sarcasm, I've liked it. I think they're being way more aggressive and Barzal is asserting himself. Pulock is doing a nice job stabilizing the defense. Even Aho had a good period and was actually doing what he was brought in to do (show some offensive ability).

Barzal instructing Dobson to join the rush before he scored his goal. Good stuff!

Barzal's play on the Dobson goal is the kind of play we'd be drooling over if a guy on the opposition did it. That was elite. Dobson made a great play in his own right, but Barzal created the chance.

2 things - 1) I suspect a little bit of a playoff hangover. A ‘it’s a long season, we’ll turn it on in the playoffs. No need to bring it every night now’ and 2) I suspect coach Roddy is starting to get a little stale.

This is the Calder Barzal we haven’t seen really for some time now. He can decide this teams entire season if he plays like this with consistency as he did in his first season. He can drive the offense almost on his own. His puck possession is unreal.

Our Aho was only abused once so far. Progress.

Barzal has a desire to go to the net and make plays tonight. Some nights he takes open space because he can but it doesn't create any offensive tempo. His play here is elite and his decision to quickly give it to Dobson without having to hold it and make a heroic pass is a good decision. I want Barzal to create more tempo toward the net on a consistent basis. That's always been my beef. He's very good, but that extra step would make him great.

I’ll give Barzal this, he constantly over the course of his career has put his players in positions to score. They just dont finish enough. It’s frustrating. He’s been pedestrian the last couple games but overall he’s always making plays.I’d like him to be more aggressive himself towards the net and push at a high pace. I feel he looks to mythologically slow every entry.

He would keep the defence is much more on their heels. If they weren’t sure about him, driving to the net or pulling up and pulling back the way he does he should mix in some aggressive drivesto the net.
