Upper bound is 12.5

Hoping for 11 or less, would be shocked if it’s less than 10

All depends on the playoffs

I can guarantee that opinion was completely the other way 1 year ago. And no he is not going to get 88M in a flat cap, thats absured.
My opinion was always that Johnny hockey was a star player, this year though he's one of the best players in the world and his defensive game has gone from good to great. He holds all the cards with negotiations. Maybe he gives the Flames a break and signs a 10.5 x 8 but not much less then that.

My bet is less than 9.5M with the Flames (under 76M total) and around 10M+ with another team ( over 70M).

There is a reason players who sign 8 year deals always look like they take team discounts because that 8th year is a massive difference. Unless of course you think a team is going to pay him 8M+ at the age of 37.

Landeskog (who was asking for 9M on the market) and Zibaneijad (who was reported to want 10M on the market) who are both the same age and recently signed 8 year extensions should be the standard to look at

I'm just stating what I think he's worth. If Calgary can get him for 9.5 you take that deal and run.

Well what do you think teams will offer on the market? How many teams can legitimately offer 10M+ x 7 years and convince him they are a contender. I really don't see any team on the market offering much more than 70M. Which in Calgary would be 8.5-9M per (68-73M total). Look at what Hertl just signed for

Somewhere between 9.5M and 11M on an 8 year deal. He has all the leverage here and the Flames have little choice but to pay up or become a joke next season.

I'll say 10M x 8yrs with Gaudreau being well worth it for the vast majority of the contract.

8 years, 10 million a year same as Tkachuk he is going to take less than he could on the open market to try and keep Monahan on the roster
