Games Tonight Affecting Sens

What a finish for the Habs. Lucky goal ties it with seconds remaining and they win it in OT.

That pass on the 2nd goal with 8 seconds to go could have easily gone wide. Sometimes puck luck works out.

Disappointing night but we overall I don't want to panic.

Going 6 and 2, the rest of the way would get the Sens in the playoffs no matter what anyone else does. I'm also sure the Rangers and Blue Jackets will lose at least a couple games over the next 2 weeks. The 2 games against against Columbus and the 1 against Montreal will have a playoff feel to it, which is appropriate for April. Realistically the Sens should make the playoffs with a 5 and 3 record assuming some of the wins are against Columbus or Montreal.

If the Sens go 4 and 4, they have 92 points. Montreal would need to go 7-1 to catch us. Columbus would need to go 8-1 to catch us (we have the tie breaker) & Rangers need to go 7-0-1. Two of those three things would need to happen to make the playoffs. At the rate these team are playing the Sens are very likely in at a 2-6 record.

There's a possibility the Sens make it even if we lose the remaining games all in regulation...

It is starting to look like we are done in the first round no matter who we play.

Does anybody see us beating the Leafs, Panthers, Lightning or Capitals? I think it would be tough to do when we lose 4-0 to Buffalo in the season series.

We need Tkachuk at 100% to give us a fighting chance.

I'm not saying our chances of winning in the first round against the Panthers, Lightning, or Caps is high. But I am going to say you're overreacting to us losing to Buffalo. We went 3-0 against the Leafs. We got points in every single game against the Caps. Furthermore, we're tied in our series against the Panthers so far, and have a chance to split the series against the Lightning on Thursday...

We have the Leafs number this season much like how Buffalo has ours, it just be like that sometimes.

I'm not afraid of Toronto at all and actually would prefer them over any other possible matchup. All of the pressure would be on them to get out of the 1st round again, and it'd be turned up to 11 in a Battle of Ontario.

I like our chances against them a lot more than the Florida teams, that's for sure. Washington is a toss up, we always seem to up our game against them so who knows.

Sanderson is an absolute beast against the Capitals.

So, since the deadline Buffalo have beaten EDM, VGK, Wpg and Wsh,

They have the 7th most goals in the league. If they get goaltending and keep the mistakes to a minimum they can beat anyone.

The fact that their record is as bad as it is frankly is a bit of a mystery, not saying they are a great team, but they are better than they appear.

Realistically the Sens should make the playoffs if they win 2 more games... 4 pt cushion, tie break advantage, 8 games remaining. I'd like to see Sens and Habs both make it, then meet in the Conference Final.

Sens have Tampa and Florida on deck
Habs have Boston and Phile

Sens could find themselves 1pt ahead of the Habs after the next 2

Tampa and Florida are in the thick of a battle for top spot in the Atlantic
Philadelphia has been playing without any pressure and without Torts being toxic and have been on a surge as well. Tampa is historically mid on the road and have not done well at the CTC. Florida has been very sluggish lately as well.

TBF WSH and WPG both severely outplayed the Sabres. Sabres are severely outscoring every metric for some insane reason.

can't say I watched any of the Buf games other than against the Sens, caught some highlights, but just purely looking at the stats it looks like they did alright against Washington and VGK, got torched by the Jets (I saw the full extended highlights on that one...)

Yeah they played well against VGK for sure.

Throw in the fact that if the Rangers or Blue Jackets went on that kind of run that might end up catching New Jersey, which would still provide cover for Ottawa.

The next 2 weeks will have a playoff feel. Win more than they lose and they advance. If they don't they are out.
