Rangers, Canadiens, Wings, Jackets... only like the jackets for that last spot but losing 4 in a row hurts badly.

I feel like I'm being trolled by a Habs fan posting Habs fun facts and stats constantly on the Sens forum.

I find that we talk about them as much as the Leafs, Wings, etc... although I think people end up talking the most about Toronto because of the geographical rivalry (which is Montreal for me, duh)

If someone asks a question about hockey and I have a good idea of what to answer, I will answer. I am here to talk about hockey and I assume I am discussing with adults... which is frankly not clear with some.

I used to know every single NHL player and most prospects, I am not just a ONE team fan, I am a hockey fan. If some can't deal with it, so be it. If you can't deal with it, I suggest you don't read threads where people talk about other NHL teams. This thread is like an extension of the Around the NHL thread.

We all discuss the other hockey teams, yes. You on the other hand seem to focus on the Habs.. all the time. I guess it's childish to notice someone on the Sens forum always posting about the Habs?

Last night was the first "bad night" in quite a while, but we didn't lose any ground to teams chasing us.

Tonight feels like it could be THE separation night. If all goes well we are 7 clear of the closest chaser (with 2 games in hand). The Senators are still in great spot no matter what, but it feels like we need to beat the Habs to show we are capable. The previous 2 meetings don't mean anything, this team is rolling now and playing well, time to beat them in their barn and push them 8 points behind.

Calgary will need a big bounce back in NY to beat the Rags, and then the Wings are in tough at the Caps.

I'm ready to bet money that I actually don't talk that much about them (of course posts like this arguing about it don't really count). It's actually incredible that someone needs to justify himself for posting permitted content in a thread like this. HF still doesn't work properly so I can't do any research in my posting history yet but like I said, I am ready to bet good money that the numbers would surprise you. 99% of my posts are about the Sens and its players, I have some posts about the Habs, Leafs, Wings, Sabres, Bolts, Wild, Sharks, etc and any other NHL team or its players that I am interested to talk about but really, nothing special like it's made it out to be.

I barely talked about them during the first few years of their rebuild because they were irrelevant but with how they have progressed lately, they are back in the picture and directly competing for the same playoffs spots so naturally I'm going to talk about them more. I think a few posters got fooled by a stupid troll who made something about this but it's actually nothing and people are falling for it. I think it also shows the inferiority complex/insecurity other fanbases talk about when it comes to Sens fans vs Leafs/Habs. I'm sure they'd have a field day with this if it was brought to their attention. "Look at how this Sens fan from Montreal has been gaslighted because he talked about the Habs" lol

So I think you really need to stop with this and read my posts for its content instead. If not, just skip them if you're not interested. Here's a one I made about the Sharks recently, which is probably my favorite rebuild now :

I think we did really good in this trade but their rebuild is going extremely well though

Macklin Celebrini
William Eklund
Will Smith
Sam Dickinson
Igor Chernyshov
Yaroslav Askarov
Quentin Musty
Luca Cagnoni
Filip Bystedt
Shakir Mukhamadullin
Thomas Bordeleau
Kasper Halttunen
Collin Graf
Nikolai Kovalenko
Daniil Gushchin

Damn and they have an extra 1st and an extra 2nd in the next 2 drafts.

Looks like I am also a Sharks fan :sarcasm:

First we had the Habs posts. Then we had the posts complaining about the Habs posts. Now we also have the posts defending against the complaints about the Habs posts.

Who cares. You’re all just tripling the volume of Habs posts at this point!

Pretty much this. Mods can we get a clean up of all the clogging up that's happening?

I'll try to ignore but it's frankly annoying to get gaslighted/trolled that often. My goal is to talk about hockey with other adults but maybe it's not as simple as it sounds
Maybe start a thread about the states of rebuilds in comparison to ours?

Honestly I actually like hearing people’s thoughts about where other rebuilds are at, maybe if it’s contained in one place people will be less annoyed.

I was half joking anyways so by all means, feel free to continue here!

Frankly, I might just start posting less, I really don't enjoy it as much as before and it takes time that we don't necessarily have. But thanks for the support, I know there's a lot of posters who are worth it here.

That would be an interesting thread. I feel that our own window of... maybe not contention necessarily but making it to the playoffs and hoping for more is NOW and the next couple of years. Staios bringing in Jensen and Perron gave this team this year and next, and then the Ullmark signing, the Cozens and Zetterlund deals may have extended and strengthened the window by another couple of years, which was unthinkable to me just a couple of months ago.

So our rebuild is complete: our core is in their prime or about to get there, all the big pieces are signed till 2027-28 (with the smaller pieces Zub, Amadio and Batherson FAs a year earlier), and there's just nobody on the prospect horizon other than Yak. In our Conference we need to take advantage of the decline of Boston and Pittsburgh, while Detroit and Montreal are on their way up. I think Detroit is going to be dangerous first, and Montreal a year or two behind but possibly with a higher ceiling. But by the time Montreal arrives it will be time for another rebuild for us, so maybe it doesn't matter to us how good they might become.

Yes, the 2 teams that are ahead of us (Toronto, Tampa) both won, while 2 teams chasing us (Columbus & Boston) both lost. So, we created a little more separation from teams below us, but didn’t close the gap against division rivals ahead of us in the standings.

Yes, its (rebuilds, and how ours compares to others) an interesting topic. The other thing of importance is the Brady factor.

Looking down the road a bit ...

- it's likely that Merilainen replaces Forsberg maybe as soon as next yr
- given the yr Halliday has had in Belleville this yr, I assume that he could have a roster spot next yr at some point
- after next season I expect Jensen to be done & Yakemchuk NHL ready to replace him on the roster
- after next season, I expect Perron to be done as well

Here is what I would do with the players in the org we have now to replace the vets that are aging out:
- Cozens would move up onto that top line at RW & replace Giroux
- Greig & Pinto would move up onto the 2nd line & replace Cozens & Perron
- Halliday & Zetterlund would move onto the 3rd line to replace Greig & Pinto
- I'd promote Reinhardt, Jenik & MacEwan to create a 4th line replacing Cousins, Gaudette & Highmore, if we can't find better replacements
- Tkachuk, Cozens, Pinto, Batherson, Halliday, Amadio, the 4th line & Yakemchuk make the team bigger, tougher & a little more skilled.
- can Greig & Pinto replace the pts Giroux & Perron have put up this yr? Yes, Greig & Pinto put up 52 pts so far & Giroux & Perron 53 pts.

Keep in mind this is with the players we have now, numerous things could change over the next few yrs
Tkachuk - Stutzle - Cozens
Greig - Pinto - Batherson
Zetterlund - Halliday - Amadio - Montgomery could challenge Zetterlund for that 3rd line LW spot
Reinhardt - Jenik - MacEwan

Sanderson - Zub - Ottawa will need to look at options to replace Zub in a few yrs too (Guennette maybe)
Chabot - Yakemchuk - they will also need to look at replacing Chabot at some point (Donovan maybe)
Kleven - Matinpalo - are a decent 3rd pairing & young & could be here a while

Ullmark - Merilainen - Merilainen I expect if he continues to improve could likely be the future #1
