Would this be a correct recap of deadline decisions for our playoff competition:

- Bruins sold off (Marchand, Coyle, Carlo, etc.)
- Islanders sold (Nelson)
- Canadiens stood pat
- Detroit mostly stood pat
- Blue Jackets mostly stood pat (acquired Kunin)
- New Jersey bought a bit (Dumoulin, Sprong, Glass) but nothing that makes up for the loss of Hughes
- New York Rangers improved (J.T. Miller, Soucy)

I was hoping, especially given our upcoming schedule, that teams like Columbus, Detroit or Montreal, who we're going to face a few times the rest of the way, would be in a position to sell at the deadline. But at least they didn't do much or anything to improve either.

Given the recent trajectory of our competition and what they did at the deadline, it seems that the Rangers should be our toughest competition the rest of the way. Good thing we started the final stretch by beating them, in our last game against them no less!

edit: I didn't take into account the strength of schedule, which apparently says that the Rangers have one of the toughest schedules the rest of the way. Even better!

Need Columbus to put this away now.

Up 5 to 3 on the Rags
Not sure about that.
Short term: If Rags win they'll move a point up on the Sens, the Sens will have 2 games in hand.
But the Sens will only have 1 game in hand if Columbus wins. (No OT in both cases)

Long term: Someone (here, I believe) said the Rags have a tough schedule.

It's really more about avoiding 3 point games at this stage.

Boucher took a bad slashing penalty with just over 4 mins to go score was 1-1. Hartford scored on PP and then add 2 more on empty net. BSens lost 4-1

Either could end up pushing the Devils out of 3rd, and we have two games in hand on them

Although I don't mind seeing the Rangers lose.
😊

Columbus winning in regulation is my preferred result. Two reasons.

- You want to keep the points on the outside of the race as low as possible whcih lowers the final points the team will need to make the playoffs.
-Rangers are more of a threat to collect points to close out the season so any damage they can take now is good.

Lets win tomorrow and creat some breathing room.

Rather see the Rangers lose personally.

A point above the Rangers with 2 games in hand. We need to create separation with teams outside the playoffs right now.

Boston seems out of it. Montreal I highly doubt they keep this up.

Seems to be like the Wings and the Rangers are our biggest threats so I’ll be cheering for them to lose.

We made some improvements at the deadline, the Rangers did nothing. Let’s see what happens but I like our chances more and more.
