Games tonight affecting Sens

The Devils have had about as much luck as a franchise can have outside of winning games.

If they can't make it work then it's their own dumb fault.

It would be really, really, super duper awesome if Buffalo could beat the Habs tonight.

Also gunning for the Panthers to beat Tampa tonight.

A win tonight gets us back into WC2 and within 2 pts of WC1.

I thought they’d be a lock for the playoffs, so it is strange to see a scenario where they might struggle to hold on.

Getting out of a rebuild these days is a mission.

The margin for error is very small

2016 Entry 12 1 Michael McLeod
2016 Entry 41 2 Nathan Bastian
2017 Entry 1 1 Nico Hischier
2017 Entry 36 2 Jesper Boqvist
2018 Entry 17 1 Ty Smith
2019 Entry 1 1 Jack Hughes
2019 Entry 61 2 Nikita Okhotyuk
2020 Entry 7 1 Alexander Holtz
2020 Entry 18 1 Dawson Mercer
2020 Entry 20 1 Shakir Mukhamadullin
2021 Entry 4 1 Luke Hughes
2021 Entry 29 1 Chase Stillman
2022 Entry 2 1 Simon Nemec
2022 Entry 46 2 Seamus Casey
2023 Entry 58 2 Lenni Hameenaho
2024 Entry 10 1 Anton Silayev
2024 Entry 49 2 Mikhail Yegorov

Seems that they missed out too often, particularly at the beginning, remains to be seen for the last 2-3 drafts

Now there's also pro decisions like signings and trades but yeah, can't dorionize too much.

Ya, very underwhelming record, imagine they had picked 2nd in 2017 and 2019… replace Hughes and Hischier with Kakko and Patrick and they’re totally screwed. Mind you, no idea what their list was so maybe that’s not fair.

Think they’ve mostly been really good with pro-scouting though.

Only one I see is McLeod over Logan Brown, in hindsight.

No idea why you are listing 1OA picks, or picks before the Sens. Kinda pointless.

I’d rather have have Sanderson and Stutzle over Holtz, Mercer and Muk….

 Are you serious here? You know there's a world outside of the Ottawa Senators right?

I was talking about the New Jersey Devils in a thread where we talk about pretty much every Eastern team.

I'm agnostic about the Rangers win. Yes it meant they jumped us for now, but it also means that the Islanders are in 3rd last place in the conference. If the Islanders lose to the Jets later this week that might incentivize them to sell and the trade deadline and drop out of the push for the playoff spot.

Overall it's not a perfect night but they are also one point out of a playoff spot and they have the tie breaker against Detroit. It will be a competitive March.

There are going to be lots of divisional match-ups in the last 20 games, so the standings will shift around quite a bit. As long as there aren't a lot of 3-point games (unless we're in them), then I think we have a good chance. Just look at the schedule and all of the potential key match-ups:

March 8 - NYR
March 10 - DET

March 11 - PHI
March 13 - BOS
March 15 - TOR
March 18 - MTL
March 22 - NJD
March 27 - DET
March 29 - CBJ

April 3 - TBL
April 6 - CBJ

Half of our remaining games are against all the teams battling for the same spots as us. If we can do well in those games, like 8-3 or 9-2, then we'll be in an excellent position. The games against NYR, DET, and CBJ are the most important IMO, because we need to leapfrog at least two of them to get into the playoffs.
