Games tonight affecting Sens

I'd much rather see us claiming one of the three divisional spots. Preferably #1.

If Florida loses tonight (currently down 2-0), and we win our game in hand, we'd be only 3 points from 2nd place.

We're pacing for 92 pts and we're not even that far from the top. The Leafs are 3rd in the East and are pacing for only 102 pts, it's crazy. TVA talked about it but I think this season is the highest parity ever.

If we could start scoring just a bit more, I would frankly believe in our chances to be a Top-5 team in the East.

With teams increasingly opting out of the full blown rebuild route, I wonder if this is going to be the new norm. No more gimme games against teams actively trying to suck since there are almost none.

Next week should be interesting. 2 games against Tampa, 1 against Florida. A big two weeks here and top 3 in the Atlantic is a real possibility.

Must start by saying it is pretty awesome the out of town scoreboards remain relevant to Sens fans this late into a season.

If Sens remain in 3rd in Div after Tuesday night it would be some kind of miracle ......TB vs Chicago (Hawks blew 3-1 lead just on Friday to Tampa -- maybe they are due?)
Boston vs Buffalo -- Bruins are 17-2-1 in last 20 against Sabres -- maybe Buffalo also due? :)
Habs cannot pass us Tuesday night however Winnipeg VS Habs -- Both teams playing well right now and could go either way.
Rangers are also lurking and gaining ground in the Wildcard chase and have a big game VS Hurricanes -- That ones a toss up.

Like the Sens another hot team the Blue Jackets, are idle until Thursday night.

How compressed the standings are is extremely fun, but it's also incredibly nerve wracking.

I know people don't like the idea of expanded playoffs, but if this turns out to be the new norm' - it would be a fair argument in favour of expanded playoffs. Especially with continued expansion increasing the amount of teams that do not get in.
I love what the NBA has done with their expanded wild card. Should do something like that.

Detroit 1 La 2 after 1
Philly 2 NJD 0 after 1
San Jose v Pittsburgh 10:30pm

It’s a long shot but the Rangers catching the Devils is possible, especially with Hischier and Markstrom out.

I hate how quick people shoot this down. Would love a best of 3 wild card round where WC1 plays WC4 and WC2 plays WC3 for the last two play off spots.

I'd much rather a 78 game regular season and an extra round of playoffs, Idk how people could be against that.

The biggest hurdle is probably regional TV rights and any loss of revenue that would create.

Maybe more than regional. Some sports streaming packages don’t carry playoff games as they are available by national broadcast companies that broadcast the playoff games (e.g., on cable. I’d think those streaming services wouldn’t be pleased if the service they are providing & earning revenue from had fewer games.
