The obvious disclaimer is this is cherry-picking parts of three NHL seasons and he's far behind the leaders in games played. But it's very impressive if you're just looking at goals per game (Bure is at 0.85 GPG, the next closest players are Jagr at 0.59, LeClair at 0.54, Lindros and Amonte at 0.53, and then Selanne, Yashin, Sakic and Kariya between 0.50 and .52).
In terms of raw numbers and argument can be made for Bure having the most dominant goal scoring stretch relative to the peers, I think in that windows and a top 3 season for the most goals ever. Bure scored like it was 1992 (quite literary in is case) deep in the dpe, which is always a good reminder/outlier about a lot of things (player could be "made" for an era or not stop by a massive drop in scoring).
It is also interesting in the Bossy vs Gretzky goalscoring talk, old post injury Bure was maybe not better than the young Bure of the earlys 90s, where players were able to keep up more with him, while he destroyed the 98-01 window
92-94
Bure...: 120 in 159
Hull...: 111 in 161
Mogilny: 108 in 143
Andreychuck/Robitaille: 107 in 166/167
7 players scored over 100 goals
99-01
Bure..: 117 in 156 (virtually the same)
Jagr..: 94 in 144 (much better than is 66 in 161 from 92-94)
Sakic.: 82 in 142 (much better than is 76 in 162 from 92-94)
Amonte: 78 in 164
Hejduk: 77 in 162
1 player scored over 100 goals
Could be all time high talent in the earlys 90s explaining a lot of it, but it could be that best scorer depend on the hockey being played, no one scored more than 30 power play goals from 99-01, in 92-94 a lot of players scored over 40, including play makers Adam Oates. In a league that scoring is not on the powerplay but explosive speed/skating strength at even strength, Bure was a much better scorer relative to a Robitaille/Andreychuck than in a different league. Maybe 92-94 pre injury Bure score 130 goal in 199/2000-2000/2001.
I guess (I did not saw a lot of panthers game around that time) the asterix could be about some empty calorie scoring occurring in part of that impressive stretch but the 99-00 season when he was +25 on the panthers that went from 30-34-18 (25-31-16 before Bure started to play, 5-4-2 after) to 43-27-6-6 the next season is quite something, they gained 34 goals, which is pretty much how many more goals than a good first line Bure had that season with 58.
The 70 on the nose 2 time in is career is quite the badluck for my list above....
