FSG isn't asking you or me.
FSG loves Sullivan, and so did Dubas at least before the season started.
I've been ready to fire Sullivan for 3 years. I don't expect it to happen though.

Well, if we miss the playoffs then I was right last season when I said this core will never make the playoffs again under Sullivan. If that's what Dubas and FSG wants then ok. I said this before Dubas was hired.

It would be nice if the powerplay outscored the opponents' penalty kill.
And last I looked that powerplay is manned by the top players.

Yeah I love when people use the "everyone outside of the Pens fans love Sullivan so clearly he's elite" is used and ignores the fact the same things were said about Bylsma, how when we were yelling for Bylsma to be fired the same "but he's loved everywhere else, so clearly you're just whiners" were leveled at us.
But whatever. Sullivan's true ability as a coach will be seen if he's ever fired and we see him with another team. He may not Byslma his way out of the league, but I bet you'll never see him be a coach who lasts more than 2 or 3 years with his new club and has limited (if any) success.
In any case, I think it's clear that this Pens team will have stretches of looking good if they play a bunch of mediocre teams, but will struggle when they play good teams for a stretch.

It's "the Penguins brain trust has consistently demonstrated that they consider Sullivan to be as core as any of their players except Crosby. This aligns with the view of national hockey people who think Sullivan is amazing."
I'm not making a value judgment on whether the Penguins/FSG should fire Sullivan. I would. I'm simply saying it's unlikely, based on reading the tea leaves outside of this little echo chamber.

Yea, but I thought the penguins upgraded their bottom six fowards. I do like Eller and Big Z, but the rest of the bottom six can be put on waivers.

At the end of the day, the main problem blamed on last season was a lack of pmd - and that was fair enough. So Dubas brought the reigning Norris winner and best OFD since Orr and they're 8-8. I guarantee they're not firing Sullivan unless they spiral but.. there's nothing to be done to the roster - they are capped out and so is the rest of the league.

No amount of trades is going to fix this mess. There’s only a couple "Old Pens" players on this team left and they still suck. Everyone else is considered a "new toy" on the roster. We added, traded and switched countless of players with 0 results… At what point do you start blaming Sully? Do you want a Guentzel trade to make sure it’s Sully? Come on…
