Laval Rocket: Game TWO Charlotte at Laval 7PM EST

Laval has had a great run but they may be facing a team strictly built to win and not a team that is set up to develop young prospects.
This is a must win, it will be interesting what changes PV makes for tonight.
We can stay positive! It’s not like they haven’t crapped the bed one night only to respond with a great game the next.

The Condotta line was the only line that showed up last night. Let's hope they bring more players to the fight.

The one prospect if I had to pick one that has stood out above the others is Adam Engstrom.
He will force himself into an NHL spot sooner rather than later.

They didn't hit enough to make a difference. And we also see that small body players are not going to make a difference hitting. i like Barry Bullet but he's not X and he wont wear down their defense.

The PP is abysmal. They try to keep the puck low and erase the man advantage by not using the QB as much. I don't know if shots on net are counted on a PP because Mailloux had no shots on record.

I don't know what Vinny can do with Primeau. He had two softies and that was a back breaker. The second goal from the low side of the circle was PeeWee worthy. So was the 4th goal.

Let's see what happens in this game.

Reinbacher and Engstrom were good. Nobody else was on the blue line.
Primeau couldn't make a save.
The Xhekaj line and Kapanen lines were good but weren't deployed enough.
PP was abysmal but that's mainly because the vets ruined every play.
Vincent didn't adjust
So... sounds like PV isn't all that great afterall? Perhaps St Louis can hang around a little longer. But only a little.

No one looked good from what I saw,but I looked away often in disgust. I get bringing up the plus minus but from what I see around here it's like a taboo subject and meaningless, but it does mean something if examined properly
In a game where scoring more than the opposition is a neccessity for victory +/- will always have meaning not the demeaning it tends to get around here. It is actually magnified in the post season where one line getting owned can wreck a season.

Nobody thought Vincent was Toe Blake. He wasn't the choice of many people (including me). The people asking for him to be fired make no sense though.

He took a very young team to the 1st place in the regular season and is currently in the conference finals. He already achieved more than any coach in Laval's history.

The only reason he wouldn't be back next year is if he wanted to leave.

The issue with +/- is that it needs a lot of context.

Linemates, zone starts, quality of competition, how the goals were scored...

It can confirm things you see, but can't be used to compare players by itself.

The performance put in by our first line had all the context it needed in game one. :sarcasm:
A quick look at the game sheet sums up pretty much what we all saw on the ice.
The only thing that can be said is it's only one game so the players in question have time to right the ship.
It won't be too hard too keep tabs until the series is done and then compare the stat to the reality.

Not fired but he's earned criticism for his goalie choices, often making the wrong choice with no logic to back that choice up and he's been stubborn to move off deploying the Vets when the youth is outplaying them.

Its also too often they've failed to show up and come out of an intermission and immediately concede a goal vs fighting to get back in.

As always the truth is in the middle of "he's terrible and fire him" and "he's an elite coach and has not made a single misstep"

Saves me from watching it. Gonna be pretty unfair to throw Fowler in on the road down 2-0 but none of their choices have made much sense.
0-2 is generally when you would go with a goaltender change in a seven game series even with B2B.
Bottom line if the skaters in front of them don't play better it really doesn't matter who he puts in net.
Truth be told I haven't liked Fowler's last two starts either.
