I guess my point is, unless they change up the core, it doesn't matter who they bring in. The moves to bring in O'Rielly and the others that season were actually perfect. That got them one round and then they got stomped.I wouldn't have gone for Jones. The prices are too high for any big moves, this seems clear. I just hope he keeps Cowan. Making the NHL isn't easy but teams can always use a goal scorer so if he is traded you need to do so next year when cap space should be available and you can complete the teams needs.
Yeah, but for once I don;t think he should make big moves. He knows the need though, whoever they bring in has to have sandpaper and a heavy game,, it's obvious.
Not an easy task, far easier in the offseason. THAT is when Leafs should walk away from JT and Marner, load up on some of the UFAs.
I am not sure one round is enough anymore. This group needs to go on a long run... Stolarz gives some hope this can happen, but who is going to score? That issue has not been resolved, and another heavy forward doesn't move the needle enough.
But, by all means, I hope they go for it... there is literally nothing to lose. I hope they go all in.
For the record I was all on the move Marner train... my perspective on that has done a full 360. Moving him is a mistake... but he is the one without a contract. Unfortunate how the order of those worked out.
