The only way forward is to acknowledge reality, that this is a broken team and start from there. Marketing this team as anything else is stupid and will only make things worse.

Well, for me, the problem is that this franchise doesn't look like they're interested in admitting something like that.

The last part of this sounds delusional. If he is expecting the fifth year of the team to "stay in the playoffs" next year, he really has no clue how out of whack his perceptions are with reality. And the notion that board members wish to move faster is hardly comforting. This doesn't sound like somebody with a good hockey mind and a steady hand at the tiller of the ship, it sounds like a rich guy getting impatient with his toy.

Well, that is a pretty stupid take if he actually believes that. My hope is that it's just lip service but does he believe that sacrificing chicken and goats will do the trick or does he know a shaman or witch doctor?

Instead of "staying in the playoffs" maybe the bar should be finishing higher than the bottom-10 in the league. Though, even that accomplishes nothing but get us a worse draft pick.
