Your post got me thinking...at what point in time does a player's connection to their former team fall off? In Dunn's case it's been 4 years? At what point will that Blues connection wind down?

I think it varies. If Wayne Gretzky signed with a team today and they played in Edmonton, they'd call it "former Oiler Wayne Gretzky".

Been at the gym watching and listening. This is the official “it’s for sure f***ing over” game. Joey hung out to DRY by the D. Half ass efforts from most of the D, except Evans but even then, not stellar. Oleksiak is a horror show.

I hate to say it, but this one is on almost everybody, players, coaches, staff, definitely thier social media team. Frankly mostly the latter. I thought Wright stood out as working really hard but he frequently was either not connecting with his linemates or they weren’t where they should have been.

Full ugly quitting.

As a Kraken, Mariners, Timbers and Blazers fan… I’m depressed.

Imo they came up against the third big(ger) team in a row and didn't have the spunk to put up a fight. This team is too lightweight. I'm not even a size freak but it's hard to watch them constantly bounce off the backs of bigger players and chase them around. They simply cannot compete the way they are trying to play (Bylsma hockey) with the players they have.

Being a Seattle sports fan builds character.

I should know - I've been doing this since 1982 or so, and everyone says that I'm quite a character.

In the case of Dunn, he has a Cup there. I think the Cup lasts a LOT longer. Look at every guy we have that hasn’t won a cup but played with another team… rarely a mention after year one. Larsson, Oleksiak, Eberle (honestly maybe the exception), McCann, Tanev.. rarely a word. Dunn, Schwartz almost always mentioned. The Cup matters a LOT to your legacy and supersedes almost everything otherwise.

The Kraken came out completely flat and it went downhill from there. They've been terrible. It's partly completely outcoached, partly mental (not bought in), partly out of gas (I hope). But they don't look like an NHL team and they don't have NHL structure.
Heh. So .. just bad overall. They took "being consistent" seriously but in the opposite manner.

I don't like Jordan Binnington.

The fact they couldnt be bothered to elevate their effort to try to help Kokko is pretty disappointing. Hard group of players to root for honestly.

Other than Wright of late I can’t think of a player that for the casual fan falls into the “fun to watch” category. To keep Climate Pledge full next year the Kraken need to sell hope, and that only works if those watching feel a connection to the roster, as in 2022, or to a player that lifts them out of their seat.
This iteration of the Kraken almost pisses me off, from Francis on down.

I am a little worried about next season to be honest. What will management and ownership do to sell "hope"? Will they even get on the same page about it?

I don't want them to sign any more UFAs, not even Rantanen, if he is available, to be honest. Let the kids play and show the fans a vision of the future. Trade as many vets as you can this TDL and off-season for ready-to-step-in prospects. The game needs to be exciting on the ice, and this team is just not doing that. The fans may be ok with us being bad. But bad and boring is a recipe for disaster.

That last line nailed it.

They will sell players over the next 10 days… that’s the only “hope” I have. It’s a lot of players too.

That last line nailed it.

It did and I’d stretch it further to add no more cups in the locker room. Guys with cups aren’t always hungry once they get their name on it. That sure is apparent on the Kraken roster. The hunger has been absent from nearly the entire roster. It is readily apparent even when they win.

I'm streaming a bit behind but the Kraken players have completely stopped skating and are not even trying anymore. Poor Kokko.

I do wonder if this is it for Bylsma.
So if Bylsma gets the boot will Lowery and Campbell get the shaft too to make it a complee shit-show maybe a couple of our Vets can step behind the bench between shifts eh? Or Gru could be brought back up and placed behind the bench...but he has to raise a stink about lack of backchecking,Heart,Physical play all the while counting his 5.9 M this year and until 2027

I don't think Bylsma will get the boot during the season. The coaching may not be great but it's not the root problem, the weak roster is. Might as well hang on to him and pick up a lottery pick in 2026 too. I doubt the owners will allow that however. Judging by the signings of Stephenson and Montour (and Bylsma) there seems to be some busybody flailing around behind the scenes. I expect more of that busybodiness manifesting one way or other.

A lot of vets need to be shipped out this TDL, ideally in some hockey trades for young players rather than dumps for futures. The next few months will reveal a lot about the competence of this management group.

I have not watched as many Kraken games as I have over the previous season. If they go into next season with the same vets and add another vet, I doubt that will encourage me to watch any more games.

This team is not one piece away from the playoffs. It's just .. broken. There are way too many things wrong.

The only way forward is to acknowledge reality, that this is a broken team and start from there. Marketing this team as anything else is stupid and will only make things worse.
