Wished they would switch 20 and 40, but no other complaints about that lineup.

That day will come. Slaf won't stay on the 4th line for long. He will earn his way up the line-up. And that's what you want to see them do.

Suzuki started on the 4th line wing when he started his pro career. He worked his way up. Evans was the 4C in Laval when he started his pro career. He ended as their 1C and is now a full-time NHL'er.

And Slaf has better players on his 4th line than Suzuki did. He had Nate Thompson as his center. And Uncle Nate is as great a vet and mentor to have. But he wasn't as skilled as Evans and Pitlick are.

Slaf is streaking 3g in 3gp tonight!

Hard not to love Marty and the extra effort he puts in as a coach. That’s why the boys are playing hard for him every night and have the record they do already
Moreover that effort is not dedicated to certain subset of the team… even the players who are out of the lineup are treated as integral members of the team by receiving such dedicated focus by the coach himself

You also never see a head coach stay after practice to skate and talk with the extras. Coaches always get off the ice and if anyone stays with the extras, it's the assistant coaches. But MSL takes the extra time to work with the healthy scratches. So even if they're disappointed they're scratched, they are not an after thought for the coach.

Hoffman, Drouin and Dadonov probably don't mind it at all.

I think everyone know around the team that Joel Edmunston is ready to play but they can't figured it out what to do to fit him into the lineup without sending someone on waivers, it's probably the reason why St-Louis was furstrated yesterday in the interview.

Sorry Marty your best defensive defenceman is ready to go but we're waiting for an injury to let him back into the lineup because we don't want to take a chance to lose Pezzetta for nothing or hurt the feelings of Dadonov or Drouin by sending them to Laval.
No St-Louis was annoyed to be asked two questions in a row about Dadonov for the same thing. It wasn't related to Eddy.

It's true that they can't reactivate Eddy thought. That's a problem for Hughes and not that easy to resolve while on the road.

Drouin back in baby!!! What are the chances he gives a real effort tonight lol??

After 9 games, all four centers on the Habs have a 50% FOW or higher. And they've all taken 100 face-offs or more.

Suzuki is at 50% with 100 face-offs taken
Dvorak is at 55% with 118 face-offs taken
Monahan is at 56% with 102 face-offs taken
Evans is at 52% with 103 face-offs taken

Dach has 36% FOW, but he's only taken a total of 48 face-offs so far this season. He's taken less than half the number of face-offs the current center line has.

So it's nice to finally have 4 centers who win you the draw more often than not.
I think the graph the other night said we were like 6th in the NHL as a team in faceoff % so yeah, pretty cool!

There is no way on earth, should JD see PP time...................it's been something like 3 years since he has scored a PP goal..........................
The big surprise here, is we change a lineup after a win............interesting.

Habs have not beat the Wild in 14 games? Is this true? 😆
Sounds about right.................big team that can skate fast.....we always seemed doomed.

Nice that Hoffman is now coming out, as Dadonov and Drouin already have. Too bad Drouin is back in.

I hope Pitlick can establish himself. He brings speed and some secondary/tertiary offense, without the turnovers of Drouin and Hoffman.

Pitlick, Drouin are close. Hoffman is not producing much points but he's not playing that bad. Dadonov is the one that is the odd man out.

That's how I see it. I don't hate Pitlick but he's got flaws too. Pitlick's giveaways/60 is at 2.8. Drouin is at 2.09. Dadonov is at 2.22. And magically, Hoffman is at 0. Early but we have to set aside the popularity and look at the numbers. Pitlick does not provide more value than Drouin.

100% agree. This is not the same as Ducharme, Therrien, or Julien demoting KK or Chucky to 4th line and then trashing them in front of the media. MSL knows what he is doing.

At the end of the day, it's up to the individual to overcome the obstacles while they comprehend the coaching well in between games. Suzuki did it and Slaf appears to have a good head on his shoulders as well. It's one of the reasons why they drafted him... He's very skilled and has great size but he's coachable and not self intitled to be placed higher in the line-up without earning it. Growth from age 18-21 is very important. It's more important than stat checking age 14-17 years. I trust Gorton/Hughes/MSL

Well if he don't, he sits again. So he will learn the hard way that intensity needs to be higher. I've seen little signs of it this year after he sits a game. If that's how we get the best from him in his last year of that term, so be it. Sit, play for two games and sit again if you become complacent. Something that should have been done a long time ago.

The next ~10 games will determine what this team is all about. Are we tanking or not? We'll know by the end of November.

What is the weak link to the Wild's D? I think their D is underrated. They don't turn it over too much IMO. Look at the difference between our team and theirs after 9 games and our D has been playing solid too.

One thing to note about Guhle is yeah, his giveaways/60 is high but so is his takeaways/60. And I suspect that most of those giveaways was in the first half of the games he played.
