I Agree. I just take it as just coach speak and not blaming the goalie to not crater confidence.
and given the way Martin came out after Rod didn’t pull him in the 1st I’d say Rod’s approach was the right move for Martin.

Which may be why Rod is the 4th longest tenured coach in the NHL and Bill Peters is bouncing around Bolivion.

Burns is so bad out there it's like watching Brindy in his last season. Slavin is masking so much of his shit play, but when he gets in a position to be THE guy it's clear the game has absolutely passed him by
It begs the question how did he get 1st in the offseason physical fitness test?

A home win streak in this league rarely hits double digits. That said sometimes games like this can be used to see where we need to boost things when we get to where the games really matter. Right now we're looking at the same issues we've had for a while. The talent is there but we lack the punch to go toe to toe when a team like Florida decides to get physical, and they will get physical using the "they can't call everything" approach like they have the last couple playoff years.
This, every bit of this.

I might be a little harsh and brash with my messaging sometimes, but this right here is what got me frustrated tonight. We fell into the same trap that historically eliminates us in the playoffs, and that's worrisome when looking forward.

I mean sure, if Spencer Martin is starting playoff games, they’re f***ed. If they have either PK or Freddie they win this game.
Honestly, not 100% sure on that one. We were so bad in that 3rd that it would take a goalie playing at his peak to keep us in it. Martin let in some really bad goals, but with the team coming unglued in front of him, a loss was expected, regardless of what the fancy stats will say.

And oddly enough, that realization would push Tulsky away from making a goalie move because that goalie move would probably soak up remaining LTIR space and prevent him from making a move for a physical player at the deadline.

And that’s probably the right move. Unlikely to win it all if you aren’t playing Kochetkov or Andersen behind an improved team; make a move to replace Andersen in the offseason.
I mean if we are playing the long game here, the absolute right move is to bring in someone who instills team wide toughness and a willingness to just play over the line knowing the refs won't call everything. We do that and the sky is the limit for this team.

We’re suffering a lot from losing two 6’3 210 lb defenseman. Orlov, Chatty, Ghost, Walker is a really lightweight bottom 4 and you can tell by the way other teams are finding more success in dump and chase scenarios as well as pinning us back and getting us to cough it up easier when they’re on the forecheck.

Sounds like the coach thinks there was plenty of blame to go around.

The goals against came off turnovers from none of those guys though. The first one, Chatfield attempted to clear the zone, it hit a ref, went behind the net and Roslovic lost the board battle along the other side. The second one, Slavin reversed it to Burns, and Burns tried to force it past Barkov, and that’s a losing play 95% of the time. The third and fourth should never have gone in, and the fifth was a poor decision on the PP leading to a 2-on-1 against, and Burns failing to cover his Guy on the rebound.

Yup, beat Martin to the ground so he can break down too? Start Perets and just take this as a schedule loss?

Btw: if Perets is ECHL quality and can’t play then add a goalie to the system. Or get the damn Zamboni driver
The trolling from FL fans is brutal under our account but someone posted this:

And unfortunately for us, Florida is a bad team to have a bad game against.

I just hope they don't panic and go back to Kochetkov tomorrow if he isn't quite ready. Let Martin or Perets get lit up instead.
Yep, at worst you’ll be 2-2 with a 3rd and 4th string goalie playing against 3 tough teams. Run out Perets and see how he does and let Kooch rest.

That was my fear that big teams would pin us. Funny, I think ghost can make it work because he finds ways to be physical (and more than svetch it seems these days).

Unfortunately, even if available, Nikishin wouldn’t replace Walker.

I don’t think a trade deadline pickup would change our profile unless JR goes and is replaced by a big winger who can skate (and doesn’t get neutered by the Coach)

2nd and 3rd lines are set and KK-Robinson have size. You could sit Blake but then perhaps you lose some creativity.

Slavin-Burns is struggling not only due to Burns’ age but because they can’t lean as heavily on Skjei-Pesce to take some of those difficult minutes and match ups off their hands. Slavin is 30 now and while his game should age gracefully I think it’s imperative they bring in a legit guy to come and pair next to him. There’s a time and a place to do the value adds and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts math, but a position that important demands proper addressing. You can’t go with Burns for another year or Walker top pairing like some are advocating for.
