Marner would absolutely 100% get $11M on the market if he wanted to.
Yup, cuz that the way it is.
Dopey Dubass gave that type of contract to Marner when he was still an RFA.
What an asshat!

He's a fringe 8 million guy. I do like him. He's a smart player, soft though. If we ever had him as a Bruin we'd have to groom him and be patient for his testicles to drop.

Jeff Skinner got 3 mil and he's probably the best comp to Marner albeit older. Was the Buffalo deal at the time even equal to 11 mil today? He did score 40 on it.

Could he get it from Utah sure. Is a good team like Vegas or Dallas moving some salary around to pay Marner 11 mil of course not.
Is this a joke? This may be one of the worst comparisons I've seen on the internet in some time. Skinner has had one season above 63 points in his career - his only season even close to a PPG. Also, yes, his 2019 deal was worth more than $11m today.

Skinner signed a one-year deal worth $3 million having come off 46 points in 74 games. Marners last five seasons:
  • 2023-24: 85 points in 69 games
  • 2022-23: 99 points in 80 games
  • 2021-22: 97 points in 72 games
  • 2020-21: 67 points in 55 games
  • 2019-20: 67 points in 59 games
He also leads all Leaf players in points, primary assists, and 5v5 goals over the last two playoffs and leads the Leafs in post-season points and assists since his first NHL season.

He's simply the easiest scapegoat for their fan base. That doesn't make it logical.

I know Marchy took his lumps on a giveaway the other night but watching Berube losing it on Matthews on a half-witted giveaway on Thursday night was pure 100% refined GOLD!
Berube said what I've been saying for years... "Matthews is lazy". Finally getting called out.

Show me something positive tonight. Bruins are a much bigger team now on the back end. They look a lot slower though. That usually happens when you go heavier, but I think they can be a little quicker, than what they’ve shown. Maybe they’re thinking too much. Just play!
