Game 86: Caps @ Cans

I think that it has been expected that Ovi could struggle in the playoffs. The pace and intensity of the game is just much higher.

But despite this, he already has three goals including an important game 1 OT winner. He won’t get any faster, and his stamina has been reduced. But the coaching staff should manage his minutes more smartly. This is the best way to increase the benefits and reduce the risks for the team overall.

Not sure what’s going on with Carly. But it must be age too. Would love to see more from him.
Ovie will get more managed minutes once Protas is back.

Lots of whining:

This kid, Dobes, he seems to talk a lot without thinking about what he’s saying. 😂

“I don’t want to point fingers, and I never ever do, BUT… I never want these ref’s again!”

“You don’t want to see one of our best players skating around the ice concussed”. (Evans) so if it was a worse player it’s fine? Or should any concussed player even be on the ice?

“We’ve got to win at least one I Washington to qualify for the next round, right?” No, your have to win exactly 2 games in Washington and 1 at home without losing any game.

STROME
MATHESON
DUHAIME

lol OF COURSE those punks left out Wilson and picked a MTL player in a 5-2 loss dominated by #43

In a 6-3 MTL win all 3 players were Habs.

BOK BOK BOK BOK BOK

What a fragile fanbase. From the TNT broadcast, to the preferential reffing, the canadian bias is real. Took a peak at their GDT and there are several wishing serious injury on Ovi and the others.

Guess I expect more from an original 6 team. Bunch of babies.

I dont play goalie but I was thinking about Logan. Those big leg pads have to give alot of support to the knees.
They do because they rotate 90 degrees when you go into the butterfly position. Also helps there no more leg straps used, as it's now a velcro calf wrap on the back of the leg. Goalies also wear independent knee pads that give even more movement/rotation, which is beneficial to avoiding some injuries or lessening the torque put on your knees.

Man, reading the GT after a win is cringefun at its best. Some posters here...

After losing R1 to Rangers; this is worst team Caps have ever iced, fire everyone and burn it to the ground.
Off-season; our prospect pool sucks. Thompson, Dubois, Chyhcrun are all cap dumps. Fire everyone.
Start of the season; fraud wins, they actually suck
Middle of the season; fraud team, they still propably miss the playoffs.
Trade Deadline; worst TDL ever
End of the regular season; Lucky 1st seed finish, team is fraud and wont win a playoffs game.
Leading 3-1 a playoff series; pathetic performance over 8th seed. Should have clinched in 3 games. No chance winning another round.

Eventually you'll get it right. Stay consistent.

Great win in Bell Centre!! After being overrun last game in front of that crowd, coming back and play structured D and suffocating them on 5v5 is vet-team move. Special teams failing, on the verge of taking another L, leadergroup takes on the momentum to turn it around. Wilson just sucked all the air out of Bell Centre, loudesta arena in the world.

Thats overcoming adversity.

Its definately not over. Habs will come guns blazing to the G5, but their backbone is bending. All it takes is couple bounces our way and the dominos starts to fall. Lets go get those bounces!

Lots of whining:

We've got to win at least one in Washington, right?” said Dobes. “That’s how we qualify for the next round. I feel like it’s an opportunity.
///
“It’s a resilient group,” said St. Louis. “We know we have to win a game in Washington. ..."
Do they do math different up North? Cause by my calculations, the crabs have to win two games in Washington. "at least one" won't cut it.

note: hadn't read @MW6's post when I posted the above. It's not only their goalie, but also their HC who's math-challenged. (Yeah, I know the protocol for them is to "win one game at a time, you can't win all three in one night," but Dobes and MSL both use such an odd formulation. I'm used to hearing something like, "We just have to win the next game and take it from there.")

We are carrying the play 5 vs 5. Their PP have done most of the work on their side to keep them in the games. They might just be a bad fit against our PK or we might be missing Ferhervary and Protas. We are the 5th ranked PK team going into the playoffs so we are letting in more than we should be doing. Would be nice to get the win at home and get some rest before the next round. This team probably need it to heal up a little.

Pretty funny that when the 3rd period was starting i was actually wondering how they could go several different routes when Protas get back. Mangiapane has been nowhere to be seen, Duhaime has been visible for all the wrong reasons (turnovers and penalties), Leonard is still looking for his place in this league and Raddysh has been yet another ward body. Mangiapane and Duhaime definitely fought for their spots and they were huge for us in the 3rd. I'd guess it's up to Leonard and Raddysh now, i think i'd propably sit Raddysh but we'll see. Huge to get Protas back and the extra days propably serve him well!

Good win. Wilson set the tone there late. What a huge hit. Hope the Habs D is fine. He definitely took one to make a play.

Lots of whining:

First asking for a suspension on Ovie is laughable. Second of course they want more PPs they can’t score 5v5. Also they don’t need to win one in Washington, they need to win 2. Somebody needs to help MStL with math. Expected more from a guy with as much playoff experience as he has

So glad the Caps got their shit together and pulled that off, the special teams was horrific tonight but they managed to play a great 5v5. Super thankful LT was able to come back, I'm still in disbelief that he played. How often do you see a guy limp off like that and play the very next game?

Wrap up this series on Weds at home!
My Concussion theory... when someone gets concussed you cannot read their body language to play internet doctor at home. He got rocked. I've seen it in football enough times to not be fooled. We saw Logan did indeed put weight on his leg at some point when making his weary way to the bench. I think he just harmlessly /s got his bell rung. Yeah he may have tweaked his knee some sure but it wasn't as bad as he made it look.

We're lucky he dodged concussion protocol. By limping off like he did, maybe he fooled the amateur hour NHL concussion contractors hired to watch out for players.

Maybe it's just that we don't see them as often but there's a real arrogance to their fanbase. They seem entitled, thinking that all of that history makes them more deserving I guess. Shut it down on Wednesday and get ready for Rd2.

It’s two things:

1) The total number of fans is high so more whiners by sheer size.

2) French Canadians are whiners in general. Live in Ottawa so have experienced it for many years.
